What do we do? We don't have 5 corners on the active roster. Are we gonna get toated all day long? I don't mean to be chicken little but we don't match up well with GB's receivers at all. :scared:

We blitz and give him 1.5 seconds to throw the ball, staying in a short zone, which could lead to easy interceptions.

Well, Brett has a quick release so it makes the 5WR set nice for them.

But some weaknesses in the 5WR set that I have gathered:

- The QB doesn't get enough protection and is susceptible to big hits
- The 3-4 vs the 5WR set match up well together
anything else?

So I assume we bring our speed guys and set them lose on Brett, try to hit him quick and limit their yardage to short. Don't give him enough time to look deep.

you just rush the hell out of him and have one or two LBs drop back in short zone or spying QB and pick him off all day long. Don't worry, we have enough pressure to make him get rid of it real quick.

The 5 receiver set is the reason they are 10-1.

You don't get pressure on Favre often enough. Many of those completions are 3-5 yards...he doesn't take many hits...he sees the blitz and he gets rid of the ball fast.

We'll play mostly zone...we'll try to take away the slants, but that's nearly impossible.

GB will score in the 20's on us...I have no doubt. This game will be won by the defense containing them, getting a few stops, and by the offense scoring in the 30's.

If our special teams don't step up in this game, that could also make a difference in GB's favor. Assuming Favre and Romo play good games, this will be a scoring contest. Romo had nice stats on T-Day, but I didn't think he was very sharp, missing quite a few receivers and underthrowing the deep routes all night. He has to play better against GB.

Hey... why dont we try that "standing up thing" on defense... seemed to be effective against us with the Jets...

The lions had their chances to beat them, they just couldnt capitalize of on offense, Itll be a close game but i think we can win.

Correct, they had 3 opportunities to put up points in their end of the field that could have blown the game open to at least 17-0. Look, GB has had their fair share of close games, we have only had a few...

I think you covered it well there Wayne.

I don't know if the way we play zone is a good match against Green Bay in the we don't play up on the receiver. I could see this being a "slant-fest" against us.

well than Jerry better get busy and slant the field the other way ;)

but really

I don't like the way we match up with GB or the Lions...but I trust Wade will do what he can to limit the damage done...

The 5 WR set should allow the Pack to get Koren Robinson and R. Mathis running thin. If you do blitz then you probably plan more man and less zone.

It should be interesting to watch.

The 5 set for GB means Favre will get hit if the defense brings any pressure.
I will be very interested to see if GB thinks they can actually block Ware and Ellis and Spencer in the 5 set.

Favre is a tough old bird but playing empty sets without WRs is a way to end a career.

that would be excellent, imagine Ware coming in untouched? haha

that would just be bad news for them.

Green Bay is NOT 10 and 1 because they run the 5 WR set. They have only used that formation for about the past four games. And they don't use it that much in any given game. Thursday against Detroit they used it about 8 times only. It is not their regular offense. Now 3 and 4 wide they will run quite a bit.

They will pass until you get back to protect the pass, that is when they will bring out the run.

They are 10 and 1 because FAvre has made excellent decisions with the ball and the WRs have caught it and run with it. Their YAC leads the league and they lead the league in NOT dropping the ball.

their defense is a bend but don't break philosphy. They will play man on man all day long. If Haris gets burned, he will get right up in the WRs face again like nothing happened.

3-5 yard completions means you jam the receivers at the line of scrimmage while you blitz. Let's see if the Cowboys try it.

Many teams have nickel and dimed us all day long like the Pats for instance. Hopefully they have made some adjustments cause it drives me nuts...

when they go 5 wide, man up on each WR and rush 6. They can't block 6. Or keep 1 guy deep and rush 5. If they do it often enough, we might get a chance to see how this offense does with Rodgers taking the snaps. :)

I think Wayne nailed it. You can't hit Favre much because he gets rid of the ball too quickly. And we all know that there's absolutely no touching the QB after the ball is gone these days.

I wonder if we don't do some timed "rushes" where the D-line does a certain count in their head and then gets their hands up. That doesn't seem like Wade's attacking style, but maybe that might knock down a few balls.

I actually hope we don't play for those quick passes too much and they get us on some double moves.

I know one thing, our corners need to be ready to play the ball this week at any time, because we all know Favre will throw it to any receiver at any time.
