The typical JG answer...day to day....
And the LVE / Jaylon duo played just fine.
Yup, if LVE and Jaylon played like they did last week, I'm not too concerned about our LBs.

I agree with that and had 0 confidence he would play all 16 and now wonder if he'll play half the games. These hammies have the tendency to hang around and considering the position that he plays, I don't think it will be 100% this season.
The key is what happens to the run D when he's out? Has drafting LVE and signing Thomas fixed that problem and while I do see better signs for Jaylon, he still does not look 100% to me. This talk of him being faster than when at ND looks like nothing more than talk to me.
While that is true about college comparisons, he was very special at ND and I did watch most of his games and could only wish he'd be a Cowboy but knew unless they went up heavy, that would not happen. He was no worse than the #6 and #1 on some mocks. So here is a question I have about Jaylon.
Many come in here and say, well he is not playing like he did in college.
If he can play like he did in college.
College comparison this, college comparison that.
So there are many healthy players that come out of college and really don’t play like the do in the nfl as they did in college. But yet they play pretty well, so people think they are the same player. When in fact they may not be.
And how many that make these statements truly watched him in college, other than highlight films.
I think some fans expectation are that he was a super hero, in which many college players seem that way.
But when the get to the nfl they drop a notch or 2. It is a common thing to do so.
So are the fans just picking up on this to whine...well, if he gets back to college level....
But here we are, he is still getting his legs back under him and he looks pretty good. But yet there are those that will see differently as they always look at being negative.
So how many actually watched most of his games in college? To be able to compare this, and remember the NFL is much faster and has much better players.
Yes,we’re going through that crap again. But at least this time they got the LBs to cover it.so is lee expected back for this week, or are we going to go 5rough this crap again?

What made him so special was his ability to be this every play LB, the run, blitzing the passer, covering backs and TE's and they even had him covering WR's down the field, but that is college and not likely to happen in the pros.
jazzy, when I talk about his college form, I am not making that a comparison from college to the NFL, it is merely a comparison of Jaylon Smith at ND and after that horrible injury. He is not the same, does not have that unique quickness in either direction and lateral movement that made him so effective at ND. He just seemed to move faster than everyone on the field.
He may never come all the way back but that doesn't mean he can't be a good NFL LB because he's smart, has a good sense for the ball and is a good tackler when he can get lined up on the ball carrier. I am just hoping he can get back to being what I considered one of the really special players that I've seen play.
My comments are not negative about him, he was the highlight of my draft. I am just down a little lamenting what could be with him. If he could come back, he could be the best LB in Cowboy's history. He was that good.

obv I'm a fan but the thing with Jaylon, he lacks consistency. So here is a question I have about Jaylon.
