When Will Mo Officially Be A Bust?

The Cowboys moved up in the draft to select Rocket Ismail, when he wasn't available (CFL) they selected Maryland. Maryland ended up being a solid player but no one move up to the number 1 pick in the draft to get a solid player so I would have to say that he wasn't worth the pick. If he had a career like Warren Sapp then it would've been worth it.

Yes. We wanted Rocket but he wasn't there. We needed a DT and got the best DT in the draft. A DT that ended up being the glue to hold a #1 defense together. It doesn't matter where you drafted him, he was great at his job. We see teams make moves and miss in the draft all the time but this pick was as close to 'can't miss' as a team could make. There was no Warren Sapp type player in that draft and Sapp did not play the nose anyway.

I wish Mo could be half the player that Maryland was. That would be an improvement.

I compared Claiborne to Tyron and Dez at the rookie years. All are 1st round pick all expected to perform year 1. Dez had many problems with learning new routes and off field but even his first year he flashed greatness with incredible catches and yes, dominating dbs at times man. I said now, now they can do it ever game but in 1st couple years there was flashes Tyron too. he made mistakes of course but everyone could see esp for what? 20 year old he cpould hold his own against some of the best. so what? they moved him over to LT and then what? they said hey man just block JPP and anybody else out there by yourself with no help.

you pretty funny though Williams must be in HOF lol ok. Claiborne graded as one of the worst corner in the nfl thats when he can get on t he field. you seem to love his game so fine. maybe he can do something before his contract is up.

I know you compared their rookie years. Dez was okay, yes. Flashed greatness? As a punt returner, but not as a receiver. He was solid but had very pedestrian "second receiver" numbers. That's why I brought up TWill. If you think Dez flashed greatness and dominated DBs, then you have to say Williams did, too, as they were very much the same receiver during their respective rookie seasons. Numbers were almost identical, except for YPC, where Williams overwhelmed what Dez did.

And your assertion that Clasiborne graded out as one of the worst CBs in the league as a rookiw is patently false. He was as solid, and contributed as much, as a rookie as Dez did on offense. He hasn't progressed since as Dez obviously has, but it's still too early to pronounce him a bust.

He's a 1st round pick and should show it out the gate as a DB. There's no gray area there, IMO. Bust.

I'm in no rush to declare Mo Claiborne a bust. Those of you who are may simply require booster shots for patience.
He's done everything possible to prepare himself for a much-improved regular season. Let's afford him some credit here.
If he fails miserably in the upcoming season, it's a pretty good bet the staff will recognize it as soon as we do. Whether they do something about it or not may largely depend on whether or not management is willing to admit they might have overestimated him.

I heard on the radio yesterday Mo Claiborne has played in three of the eleven pre-season games since joining the Cowboys. He seems to be constantly hurt and is taking a roster spot of someone who potentially could be on the field.

When is this guy officially a bust in your mind? If not, then who is?

And, do you think he may be the biggest bust of any player selected or picked up in free agency for any team in Dallas, and not just the Cowboys?

Dez Bryant didn't get it fully together until his 3rd season. CBs aren't the same as WRs but I'm giving him this season to show and prove. Would be the right time for it- with a weak D that needs and should highlight playmakers.

I remember people were screaming for Dez to be traded and how he was so dumb because he didn't know how to run routes. Scandrick wasn't the scandrick he is now the first few years. How about we wait and see with Claiborne?
