When Will Mo Officially Be A Bust?

It's a fair question, but it's also a tough one. I don't think Claiborne would ever get cut. He isn't a star, but he isn't a liability either.

Consider a player like Russell Maryland. Dude wasn't just a first round draft pick, he was a number one overall pick. He went to all of one Pro bowl and was never a dominant force. Was he a bust?

This. Preseason aside, if he plays hard each week and isn't a liability, then he is not a bust.

You could be right. But, the Cowboys are the only team to not play their starters in preseason. Or, so I've heard from the "realists" that could not even finish the Basic Obstacle Course, or even the Boy Scout Obstacle Course. lol

Stars, I was just joking with you...and there were multiple obstacle courses at the Academy...and the confidence course was a challenge.

Generalized standards can't be ignored...just as on board etiquette doesn't justify another's rudeness. I attempt to carry conversation beyond the show of those self appointed indignants.

I heard on the radio yesterday Mo Claiborne has played in three of the eleven pre-season games since joining the Cowboys. He seems to be constantly hurt and is taking a roster spot of someone who potentially could be on the field.

When is this guy officially a bust in your mind? If not, then who is?

And, do you think he may be the biggest bust of any player selected or picked up in free agency for any team in Dallas, and not just the Cowboys?

Everybody has a different definition of bust.

A draft picks value is during the initial rookie contract when they are low cost contributors. He has already not lived up to being a top 10 pick or even a 1st round pick, so he's a bust by that definition.

If the definition is independent of draft position, then he's been OK when healthy. People would think that he has been really good if he had been a 7th round pick.

officially a bust after this year if he doesn't perform.

I dont care about pre season games. I care about being effective in games that count, and so far he hasnt been. I dont think think the guy loves the which is probably a big part of the problem. The whole constantly nicked up thing sure isnt helping his cause either.

lmao....see what I mean, ScipioCowboy?

I hope he turns it around but If he continues in his current path he will be a collosal bust. I can't remember taking someone with that high a pick producing so little on the field. Not to mention he also cost us a 2nd.

He has been a total dissaster so far.

I don't get that, you make a claim you really do not know is true and then claim it to be the big problem. I agree constantly dealing with injuries has not helped him at all.
To claim he does not love the game or care if that was the case they why put in all the work he did this off season? You would figure he would come in out of shape if he had no love of the game. I don't excuse his play up to this points he was a high pick with big expectations and has not lived up to it. Time is ticking for him to get it going and show himself as a pro ball player

Lol, had to google that one. That was bad.

Dallas has had bad one, heck even BP was not exempt taking Bobby Carpenter? in large part because his dad played for BP? lol
Dallas went after Claiborne why because we had let Newman go and based on scouting reports across the league Claiborne was considered one of the top defensive player in that draft. How things turn out you never know. I'm sure when GB took Tony Mandrich they did so because of what they saw in him and it was pretty much a consensus around the league that he was a top prospect but there none of these guys are sure things.

you can't get a 3rd pick for him, he will just play out contract and bounce pretty sure. he is unreliable as a player and cant stay healthy. I think he makes Terence Newman look like iron man.

Is RG3 as bust?

Mandarich and Carpenter are two good examples of high placed picks that didn't turn ground soil for a garden.

Russell Maryland was a regular starter and reliable.

Claiborne still has a ways to go to even get to that level.

Dez had a problem staying healthy 1st 3 years and so did Irvin. Now we all know how things ended for Irvin and easy to look back and say well I knew he would be great all along fact was he could not stay on the field and his numbers were that of a JAG. I don't know what Claiborne future is hell if I could see in the future I would be picking lotto numbers but I do know many players whose careers did not get off to great starts but they finished their careers as great players

That is true.

When that happens, posters who are supportive of him now will suddenly forget they battled his "haters" for years.

So, you are saying that you "hate" him? You just outted yourself.

Oh no. How will I recover? I have been exposed as a "hater" of a soft player who is not willing to pay the price to be great and has already cost the franchise a lot of money and draft picks.
