Where are all the guys saying Murray has no vision now?

Are you still going to suggest we should sit Murray and play Tanner? Sheesh. Quit listening to the mediots and watch the games. They needed the OL to come together and to actually stick with the run. Balance is the key. We imposed our will on their defense today.

Tex

Here I am.... did you see him run up his blocking receivers back???? He had gigantic lanes to run thru. To be fair he had some lanes in the other 3 games that he missed but he still seemed to find someone to hit, run out of bounds, or just fall down today.

The only thing that should be questioned about Murray is his health. It amazes me people are asking for more consistency from him when the only thing that has ever held him back was his health and opportunity. When he gets the ball 18+ times in the run game, WE ARE UNDEFEATED!!! It's not even a small sample size either. IF YOU WANT TO SEE MORE CONSISTENCY FROM MURRAY, PRAY EVERY WEEK THE GAME PLAN IS TO GET HIM 25+ RUSHING ATTEMPTS!!

Murray isn't the problem, it's JJ, JG AND Romo thinking we have to pass first to win and Romo is our best chance to win. Murray and Dez are our best chance to win and it shows.

The first three games have already shown us our potential. This team needs balance in play calling, it leads to a fresh defense that can overcome Romos mistakes, the line can finally lean on people and when Murray is involved were 2-0! Keep doing it! Less Romo is More!

What some of us fail to understand is that it is a lot less about DeMarco and more about the offensive line. He'll go where they go. Let's summarize a few well known facts about DeMarco.

  1. He isn't going to break any speed records but will break some long runs.
  2. He has good vision.
  3. He sometimes lacks patience.
  4. He is the best RB on the roster right now. - Maybe
  5. Behind a solid offensive line, he will create the balance necessary to help Romo avoid going completely airborne.
  6. He doesn't go down easily.
  7. He runs to daylight when the offensive line creates it.
  8. He is not a home run hitter but will regularly pound out doubles and triples.
  9. He is a winner.

Don't completely agree with all your points.

His vision is horrible. He ran well today cuz he had huge lanes to run through.

And how do you find the lanes when you can't see? But, I'm sure someone will post a still tomorrow and we can talk about all the yards left on the field.

The only thing that should be questioned about Murray is his health.

His health is always a concern but I question his stamina he's always signaling to the sidelines to come out after a nice run. Like he did the last time the Cowboys played the Rams he started going down on his own after a lengthy run. He just drops to the turf once he feels defenders around him. He had a great game but there's some things that bug me about him.

I was happy with his performance today. He still ran up on a few blockers but also hit the holes better than last week. I think the line blocked better so I am not sure how much credit goes to who more. It was a 180 from last week for sure.

On his TD run, looked like he was giving up before he hit the pylon or something. I don't know what it was, but it looked wonky on that score.

Incredibly succinct response. You're thinking on a completely different level and I see you working.

It goes to my point, he gets tired because he's not used to getting the ball that often. I liken it to a boxer going 12 rounds. Once they get used to doing it, not only is their body conditioned to do so but so is their mind.

Once the staff consistently gives him the ball 25+ times a game, he'll get used to carrying the load & develop that workhorse mentality. Murray has been conditioned to pass block so much, he loses conditioning IMO from lack of running.

Murray is a decent runner and I would leave it at that. He certainly shouldn't be relied up on to carry the ball 20-plus every week, because that's not the kind of back he is. Of course, that is a rare bird these days, but that's another story.

Ideally, he would fit nicely in a platoon role here. Now, if we could just figure out who could fill in around DM to grab those remaining snaps, we might be in business.

DeMarco is a good receiver out of the backfield who can do some damage in space. But he is not the type of runner who can get many yards if a play isn't blocked well. There are some runners out there who can, but he isn't one. It's just not his bag. That said, he has his niche, his set of skills, and he is certainly a player who can help us win.

These threads that call out the "critics" are a bit of a giggle because the less productive weeks will still be there. To be fair, the good ones will be there, too. The overreaction either way is quite entertaining.

Murray may not have great vision but he is a strong runner, good receiver, good pass blocker and is an everydown back and seems to be a smart player. I can see what some are saying about his leaving yards on the field - i dont think it is as severe as some suggest though, and his other strengths outweigh this.

Just from watching pre-season i saw that Randle has an ability to sidestep tackles that i dont think Murray has. Maybe Randle will turn out to be the best "pure runner" of all the backs and i would like to see him get some playing time by the end of the year.

The criticism is unfounded, unjust, and just plain ridiculous. So I love a thread like this that sets the record straight. Will DeMarco gain anything close to 175 yards every game? No... However, with a consistent effort from the "oline" and a more balanced approach from the playbook, he can easily put in regular 100 yard efforts on the ground. Easily..

The first 2 games this year there wasn't those big holes we saw today. That's really what it comes to in the run game. If we block that well the rest of the year it'll be a great season.

It just amazes me that somebody saw a news clip of somebody proclaiming that he doesn't have any vision and like blind sheep they all start to follow. The Dude has ran behind the most putrid offensive line his whole NFL career and look at his numbers. I think running behind a bad line is his whole problem. He knows that if he is going to get POSITIVE yards he has to choose at some point to bull forward and get what he can get.

It's a whole lot easier to run to daylight when there is more daylight than darkness. If you have ever played the running back position you know that there are numerous daylight decisions to choose from on almost any running play and they all have to be made in fractions of seconds. Yes he ran into the back of one of his blockers today because it was unclear which way the block was going. To criticize his performance today is simply asinine.

How many 175 yard performances in his 14 year career did Emmit Smith have behind an all pro offensive line? If you want to hate on Murray fire away but a healthy Murray is the best runningback the Cowboys have had since Emmit Smith and it is not because he doesn't have vision it is precisely because he has vision.
