He looks pretty good. I think he's maybe a little older then Stauback.

Craig has always been an excellent human being and one of the nicest guys you could ever want to meet.

Unfortunately, I never liked him as a QB and felt that his time as a starter for us were wasted opportunities as we had the most talented team in the league at the time. He had a nagging tendency to throw high when he was pressured and it cost us many times.

He was a better QB for the Broncos later in his career though, except for the SB game against us of course.

Morton threw a beautiful deep ball.

He was a big guy with a big arm who simply lacked intangibles and mobility, two things Roger had in abundance.

I've always heard Morton was a good guy. Thanks for sharing.

For some strange reason that I have never understood, my dad loved Craig Morton even though he was a Packers fan. He rooted against the Cowboys in Super Bowl VI because Staubach won the starting job over Morton. He rooted against us again in Super Bowl XII because Morton was QBing the Broncos. He rooted for us in Super Bowl V because Morton was the QB.

Given the grief I got for being a Cowboys fan in a "Packers" family I never really cared for Morton. I think part of it also stems from my memories of Super Bowl V. That Super Bowl was known as the "Blunder Bowl" for years. There were 11 turnovers in the game, 7 by the Colts. You would think that would doom a team, but Morton added two very late INTs that killed any chance of a rally.

People tend to forget though that Morton was I believe leading the league in passing at the start of the 69 season when he took over for Meredith. He seperated his shoulder in maybe the 5th or 6th game and was never really the same.

Had a cannon for an arm and did throw a nice deep ball. Could have beat the Colts in the SB if he was halfway healthy.

No, but it is easy to think that since Craig got to start playing in the NFL straight out of college and Roger had to wait until after his Naval commitment.

Roger Staubach
Born February 5, 1942
Drafted 10th round 1964 by Dallas
Drafted 16th round 1964 by AFL KC Chiefs

Craig Morton
Born February 5, 1943
Drafted 1st round 1965
Drafted 10th round 1965 by AFL Oakland Raiders

What are the odds of that?

Well, Jake, I really enjoyed the picts (Craig looks a lot older than Eddie, but he's younger) but you did not tell us wheere you were, or what these two greats have been up too lately. LeBaron was the GM for the Falcons a few years back (I think), but what have they been up to lately??

Anybody know??...

He was the Atlanta GM in the early 80's.

Not well known about Eddie Lebaron he was awarded a bronze star and a purple heart in Korea.

I was at a sports card show in Edison, NJ. If you have seen the long thread about Sam Hurd telling a fan something about Marion Barber, it was the same show. On Sunday they had a lot of the old Cowboys in for a signing. I had a helmet with a Don Meredith autograph and thought it would be neat to have Eddie and Craig sign it as well. Danny White was at the show on Saturday. After getting Eddie's autograph, Emmitt Smith was finishing up his signing and was walking down the same aisle as me. My wife said to Emmitt I really liked you in Dancing with the Stars, he then puts his arm around her and says, Thank You, that means a lot to me. He then turns to me, sticks out his hand, and says how are you? I shake his hand and say thanks for all of the great memories, he smiles and says your welcome and walks off. It is funny what some of these guys get for signing. Emmitt goes for like 225.00. Eddie and Craig together cost me 60.00. It was a neat day, both guys were very gracious and I really enjoyed meeting them.
