The play design yesterday seemed a 180 from the rest of the year and heck most of the current offensive system...was it that different or was something else going on?
Thanks

I'd love to hear someone who can see the whole field and not the TV Broadcast because from my viewpoint the plays weren't much different it was more so the Bronco's single covering our receivers. Chiefs played a similar defense but we refused to take advantage. And plus the offensive line was GREAT.

maybe Romo and the coaching staff were keeping a few things under-hat knowing that Denver was going to be a tough game. That and assumedly Romo's ribs better this week than the past few.

It was clearly different, the middle of the field was used much more. Watch the SD plays again, not even in the same realm as the plays they were running yesterday.

Well they said before the game that Romo ribs were finally at 100% so now they were able to throw the ball deep with accuracy.

IF....IF we had played like this all year...we would be 4-1! You know 16-0 is not possible. But I just HATE the way we approached offensive football against the Chiefs and Chargers. HALF of the offensive production we had yesterday would have won both the Chargers and Chiefs games!

I'll have the All-22 tomorrow. The routes were night and day from San Diego from I saw early on - but I'l confirm or retract

Appreciate it. Seems like they single covered us a lot. Even Dez. There was no reason for Dez to be running free and wide open.

How much of it was guys just freestyling though. The offensive line was holding up for so long they gave him forever to throw to where routes would develop and then guys would simply just try and get open.

Dude, I can't wait to hear your analysis of this because he had guys going deep constantly, and guys dragging across the field, and Romo was accurate. It was insane, I don't understand why we can't just keep doing exactly like we did yesterday on offense. Don't allow a defense to dictate what we do, we force them to change what they do.

Protection. He sat in the pocket for 5, 6, 8 seconds sometimes. He scrambled around to buy time too. Part of it was good play from the OL, part of it was a weak pass rush from the Broncos. He won't always have that kind of time.

A lot of people forget that having an oline that can block and pass block helps. This gives Romo some time. Another thing I noticed is Romo scrambling again. Romo is the most dangerous QB when he is out of pocket. Those scrambles weren't design plays. Those were all on Romo.

I can tell you this,

They split Murray out of the backfield yesterday - I haven't seen that before. That did drag a LB out of the middle of the field on both occassions and seemed to be very positive plays from what I remember.

Which was different from the 3 step, or 5 step, and get the ball out quick offense that Cowboys have been running since KC game.

Denver plays press-man(foolishly) and the OL blocked well in pass-pro for the most part. leads to plenty of downfield opportunities.

That's a bit of hyperbole. It might have taken 8 seconds for the play he ran all over the place on the 2nd drive. Three or 4 seconds in the pocket is more reasonable, but it was often less.

I think for one thing OL gave protection and it allowed WR the chance to run the routs and get open. When Denver would blitz we would hurt them when they dropped into zone Romo was hitting the seam routs but for the most part pass protection was great.

That's exactly how I viewed it during the telecast. Offensive line was very impressive.

Thanks very much. I enjoy these types of threads where things are broken down.
