How exactly is starting Orton going to keep the defense from giving up TDs virtually every drive?

You must be pushing 80 or something...

Change of leadership, momentum, mojo, etc

If you need leadership and momentum from the freaking back up QB, you got worse problems than you think.

GAME OVER.

No 35. I realize our qb is not the problem though.

I would not be mad if jerry jones came out of the press box and dismissed every single player and coach on the field right during the game

what nfl rule prevents releasing the entire team during a game?

The NFL constitution and bylaws do. If you release all of your players (which would be stupid in the first place), you can't field a team to finish the game, and not fielding a team for a game is a violation of the NFL constitution and bylaws.

Dallas could be a SB contender in 2-3 years, just in time to give Romo and Ware a small window of contention, IF the Cowboys make moves that Jerry is unlikely to make.

1: Hire a GM with full control over players and a hefty scouting department
2: Hire Ryan Dennison from the Texans - the Kubiak/Shanahan offense is literally the perfect offense for Romo (athletic mobile QB that has tremendous deep accuracy - basically the stuff that RGIII does now is what Romo should have been doing his entire career), and Murray is a perfect ZBS back. Maybe you can bring over one of their defensive assistants as well.
3: Get a RT, Smith will be fine in a ZBS blocking scheme, and you can probably get away with your interior with a OL friendly blocking scheme.
4: Invest in the lines, though you can get away with lower-grade linemen running ZBS, but your interior DL is aging
5: Have Jerry stay out of the way.

Alternatively, you can replace Step 2 with hiring Sean Payton, but there's no way Payton doesn't go back to New Orleans imo; there's probably not an offer that he can't refuse.

Dallas still has a lot of talent - a LOT of talent. With the right coaching, they can retool into a SB contender. Problem is, the right coach isn't gonna come to Dallas with Jerry's management style.

dallas could contend earlier than that with this simple plan

- Run
- Block
- Execute
- Catch
- Tackle
- Don't move until the ball is snapped

.

I see that you want us to play for better draft position.

Lol...that reminds me of a famous one-liner delivered by Tampa Bay head coach John McKay when someone asked him about his team's execution. He said "I'm all for it."

We have a few good young players on Defense that we could build around. The thing is most are always hurt.Where do we go from here? Its seems all are good young players are always hurt.

Down, I'm afraid. Yesterday's game reminded me of two elevators in a high rise, passing each other for a microsecond as they went in opposite directions.

Short term: Get ready for Filthy next Sunday night. Maybe with the pressure to make the playoffs all but gone we will relax and play better.

Long term: There are a lot of areas that need addressed. Until the OL is fixed nothing else will matter IMO.

It's time to blow the whole thing up and get what you can get for guys like Ware, Austin and a few others. This team is going nowhere. A new coaching staff, front office, equipment manager, water-boy, every position.

Unfortunately until Mr. Jones is dead and gone, this can't happen, because he would screw it up.
Sad but True.

Hopefully Jerry wakes the hell up and realizes what a tragic mistake he made hiring the red head idiot and gets on the phone with Sean Payton or Mike Holmgreen.

Jerry did say he expects some level of success in his post game presser.
No Mike Holmgreen, the game has passed him by.

maybe we can trade up in the first again (and give up or second round pick) to draft another CB

becasue everyone knows that great defenses are built around a great secondary

Speak for yourself, we've invested the bulk of our money and draft picks into our our front 7 and nothing into our secondary.
