I think he's a good Cowboys coach but not an actual good head coach.
For one, I think his schemes were good. The Cowboys ran a very modern offense and executed it cleanly. The run game in particular was a thing of beauty - it was complex, but effective.
As a game manager, he wasn't good but wasn't bad, and his biggest flaw was frankly that he didn't distrust his defense enough. He should have called every game like his offense needed to score 30 to win. It's tough to fault him for not throwing his own defense under the bus, but you should basically never punt when you have Eberflus.
All that Camp Cupcake stuff he does with foosball and no accountability... I don't think that's him, that's just life under Jerry. Wade Phillips was doing the same thing almost 20 years ago.
Schotty fulfills the same puppet coach role that JG and MM did, but at least we get a better offense out of it. I think Schotty is at where the league is today scheme-wise. MM was 20 years behind the curve, and JG was probably 50.
