Where do you rank Brian Shottenheimer among NFL head coaches?

I think he's a good Cowboys coach but not an actual good head coach.

For one, I think his schemes were good. The Cowboys ran a very modern offense and executed it cleanly. The run game in particular was a thing of beauty - it was complex, but effective.

As a game manager, he wasn't good but wasn't bad, and his biggest flaw was frankly that he didn't distrust his defense enough. He should have called every game like his offense needed to score 30 to win. It's tough to fault him for not throwing his own defense under the bus, but you should basically never punt when you have Eberflus.

All that Camp Cupcake stuff he does with foosball and no accountability... I don't think that's him, that's just life under Jerry. Wade Phillips was doing the same thing almost 20 years ago.

Schotty fulfills the same puppet coach role that JG and MM did, but at least we get a better offense out of it. I think Schotty is at where the league is today scheme-wise. MM was 20 years behind the curve, and JG was probably 50.

It's difficult to rate any coach's worth when he's cursed with Jerrah as his GM. It's still early, also.

Let's see how the upcoming draft ends up once some key defensive personnel are added for us.

They have for sure, but it's like a varsity high school team playing against 7th graders.

The average age for Indiana is slightly lower than the Packers.
Average age for Hurricanes is higher than Indiana

And they're both in the final. Hmmm. The Packers average age is 25. Indiana and Miami average less than two years younger.

There is a legitimate push to eliminate eligibility requirements for college so players can play there as long as they want. The SEC and Big Ten for sure.

A 4-star high school player is now useless to these big conference schools.

The portal is now everything.

This is how much Jerry respects the importance of a head coach--he never even requested an interview with this guy:

You mean they're winning without Eber-Fluff on the sidelines? Ben Johnson seems to command more respect in his pinky than Coach E.

I'm willing to go the wait and see approach. I don't think he was half as bad as some of you seem to think. With even a decent defense we would almost certainly be in the playoffs. Seems like Jerry is willing to give Schotty the lead in hiring DC. I want to see what he does with it.

Ive gotta see more game situations and with a better roster on defense.

I dont think any better or worse than before the season started......dude still green and wet behind the ears.

Jerry should be able to coach him up.

This. If we had a middle of the pack defense, we probably would have made the postseason and everyone would be singing his praises. Go back to preseason predictions, I think we did better than most expected.

Complete clustermess of an olio.

It's always so strange to me how so many fans cannot see beyond the W/L record. Did they forget Jimmy Johnson was 1/15 his first year? Cowboys were so bad under Landry the first 5 years that fans were screaming for him to be fired.

Look at the demonizing of Eber. Dude had zero talent to work with, but he's now the scapegoat for the worst D ever assembled. Never mind that the D was 28th last year and lost Parsons/Lewis/Golston/Kendricks.
