Constructive criticism is not ripping a quarterback. It was just the first game I saw him play where he was totally out of sync. The Patriots rattled him consistently. I can't wait to see what happens this season. Will he grow from it.

I'm going to rank him about 16. I give the edge to Newton, and Stafford. I don't think Nick Foles belongs on that list. In some areas he's better than Prescott, and a lot of other quarterbacks on that list, but game for game he hasn't shown the consistency it takes to lead a team through a 16 game schedule and into the playoffs. In the playoffs yeah, I probably take him before any quarterback on that list not named Brady, or Rogers.

Here you go with speculation. Prescott absolutely has the ability. Approved it Giants game Ravens game. They let him loose. It's about scheme. Never Say Never you'll have to eat your words. More often than not

A qbs job is to read the defense and throw with anticipation

    Both are better than Dak

Give them a real HC and they will win

Ive seen enough of Dak to know he will always be severely limited as a thrower in the NFL

What about as a great guy? Or as a guy with really cool dance moves? Or as a paint by the numbers artist?

So, you apparently are saying the Cowboys have a real head coach, and he is finding ways to cover for Dak. And we all thought Garrett sucked ...lol

What you missed is the level of defense being played.

When Romo was the QB the offense was top 5, but the defense was middle of the pack, and sometimes not even that.

Now Prescott is the QB and the defense is top 5, but the offense is middle of the pack, if that.

When Dallas won with Carter at QB, viola, it was the defense that was good and carried the team. And during those 8-8 seasons the defense left a lot to be desired.

Dallas would be SB favorites if they had Romo's offense with this current defense.

Didn't I say that. If the defense doesn't show up, Dallas loses. The reason I say that is because the offense is not good enough to overcome bad defensive performances.

Prescott is a winner when all falls into place. Prescott will truly be a "winner" when everything fails and Dallas still wins.

When Prescott can put the offense on his shoulders and carry it by himself. This is what makes all elite top QBs. The ability to be the straw that stirs the drink.

I rather have a team that scores 30 points a game to protect my defense. But Prescott doesn't have this ability so the offense has to play smash mouth to protect their QB.

Of course you are just describing 1 year under Dak. Last year was the only of his 3 years the defense was quality. It was near the bottom in 2017, and bottom half in 2016. Of course, the offense has gone the other way, dropping off from a great 2016 to a pretty blah 2018.

I actually have went back and forth on Nick Foles because when he has had to sub for Wentz, ..he's delivered in clutch situations. I've put him last only because he's been more backup rather than 16 game player, but he's outperformed a number of starters when he's had to start.

Something has elevated in his game since he's been rejuvenated under Doug Pederson, he started well under Andy Reid but somehow got lost before returning to form the last 2 years.
If not for Alshon Jeffries drop that led to INT vs Saints, Eagles would've had rematch vs Rams (which they won reg. season game in LA) in NFC title game.
From the eye ball test, I like Foles game management and decision making better than the overrated Kirk Cousins.
We'll have to see how Foles will fair with Jax Jags vs how he has been in Philly

-BTW, i'm not just sold on Bears Mitch Tribisky, as I think he's solid but not unique, not dynamic, not an A-tier level QB. i'm not yet convinced.
-and I don't think I listed Niners Kimmy Grarrapolo, as he's only been a handful of reg season game QB who has been as brittle-fragile as they come.
He does have skills and promise, but not the body to sustain.

How many QBs do have the ability to average 30 points a game? Usually 1-2 teams average 30 in any given season. The Cowboys were 5th in the NFL in scoring in 2016, so the team does have the ability to score with Dak.

I agree in regards to the Defense.
The last 3 times we have been in the playoffs, it's been the Defense that has failed us and had us ousted out of the playoffs, ..twice vs Aaron Rodgers (2014, 2016)
and last year in 2018, with Rams just flat out rolling all over our front seven.

Possibly all the way down to 27 huh? You have journeymen, guys that throw as many INTs as TDs, has beens and never were's ahead of him do you?

    Not exactly true.

The three years of defensive play under Prescott have been better than just one year(2009) during Romo's entire career.

Romo started 10 years and only one year the defense was better than what Prescott has received, that's huge.

I'm telling you, Prescott has been quite fortunate. If Prescott had the defense Romo had during his career we wouldn't be having discussions about a new contract. The discussion would be about the "next" QB.

Middle pressure destroys any QB. Grady Jarrett earned his big pay day in part blowing up the middle of Green Bay offensive line in the 2016 nfc championship game. In 2015 Malik Jackson and Derek Wolff blew up New England's stud OL and let Von and D-ware eat on the way to the super bowl.

I know as a cowboys fan middle pressure is foriegn concept to us. But the best get taken off their game and succomb to it. It is no knock on Mahomes.
