Technically there are probably 10 QBs or so better than Dak, but if I need to win a playoff game there are only about 6-7 guys I take over Dak...Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Roth, Luck, Mahomes, and give it a year or two maybe Mayfield. Also, notice only 3 of those I named are on the right side of youth the rest are twilighting. A lot of guys like Wilson, Stanford, Ryan, Rivers, Goff, Wentz, May better better pure passers but I don’t like them over Dak because I consider them either overrated, oft injured, chokers, or just generally not the leader and overall winner Dak is. When the game is on the line I just always feel like Dak will pull it out. Can Atlanta fans say that? San Diego? JMO.

True or not, the original statement made was inaccurate. I mean, I can't seriously believe you are arguing that point with me. Was the statement correct or not? It's yes or no.

I have him ahead of Keenum, Daniel Jones, Dwayne Haskins, the Bengals' Ginger, Winston, Mariota, Rosen, Fitzpatrick, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and a few others

Oh, I comprehended. You said those guys are better than Dak but can't win as much as Dak because they don't have a good head coach. Accordingly, you have to be saying Dak does have a good head coach - good enough in fact to allow Dak to win more than those guys despite not being as good.

If you dispute that and instead claim Dak also has a bad coach then you are defeating your argument.

I don't understand the "Dak is a winner" mantra. Last year, when the Cowboys gave up a future first rounder for Coop, that pick looked like a top 10 pick. The team played much better after they got Cooper. The year before, Zeke was out and the team played better with him than without him. Since Dak has been QB, the team is 2-8 when the team gives up more than 24 points and 30-7 when they give up 24 or less (for reference Drew Brees won 8 games were his team gave up 24 over that stretch).

Basically, factors outside of Dak determine the outcome of games. He is a bus driver type that isn't going to lose you the game but if the rest of the team performs poorly (Rams game), Dak isn't saving you. If you look through the game log, the defensive performance is really what determines wins and losses.

Your comment was that Dak has enjoyed a top 5 defense while leading a middle of the pack offense. My response was directed to that, not to how it compares to Romo's situation.

In any case, Romo played the first 4 seasons he started with defenses that were easily in line with the defenses Dak's first 3 years - mostly middle of the pack, with one very good season. Yes, Dak, had the benefit of a much better defense last year than the 1st two, but Romo had the benefit of the 2nd best scoring defense in the NFL in his 4th season.

As for the defensive drop off in 2010 and beyond, you can't compare that to Dak's situation, because he has only played 3 years, whereas Romo at that time was getting into his 5th year and beyond.

Excellent post overall, but the bolded part isn't always true -- he darn near lost us the Saints game despite the defense playing out of their minds

As I would expect from you, insults but no content. Explain what I said that was incorrect, otherwise you are just acting like a butthurt child trying to cover for what you said.

They did have 2 O-Linemen that made the Pro-Bowl that year, and another that had made the Pro-Bowl the 3 previous years ...

But sure there are other factors that play into the success of the team, but the comment I was responding did not purport to cover all factors, and I was only responding to the comment as it was presented. And as it was presented it was false to say Romo only had one year playing with a defense that was as good as any of the defenses since Dak has been QB.

Dak has only had one season with a top defense himself, and just as with Romo in 2009 there were mitigating circumstances that year (last year) in that Frederick went down, they had virtually no experience at TE and they had a very shallow WR group before acquiring Cooper mid season. Romo, on the other hand, in 2009 had a strong running game and a very good group of receivers, including two 1,000+ yard receivers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing that Dak is a better QB than Romo. I don't think he is. But I do think we should be fair when making comparisons, and I don't think the post I responded to was fair.

To me this isn't an out of line list, however I would say that the guys listed from 10-20 could reasonably be put in almost any order. Regarding Dak, I think a person could reasonably put him as high as 11-12 or as low as 18.

also he completely left out Jimmy G. Wilson is way overrated and way too high. All he does is scramble around and take sacks. Not that far off from Dak tbh just a lot higher than him because of the SB ring his defense carried him to.

So Mahomes gets criticized for being "rattled" by a Belichick defense as a first year starter in a conference championship game while throwing for more yards, more td's and a higher rating then Dak did in his playoff loss at the end of his third full year as a starter.

Mahomes gets blame while Dak gets praise.

If Dak had put up the same numbers as rattled Mahomes did the Cowboys win.

There isn't a coach or GM on the planet that wouldn't take Mahomes over Dak.

    Come on man.

This is why I don't rank him higher. If He was dominatevor even slightly capable then he wouldn't have to be so great in 4th quarter. What's wrong with 35-14 scores
