Where have zone runs gone?

Where have the under-center stretch runs with zone blocking gone? I thought that was supposed to be a staple of Callahan's offense. Would have helped to have this tough Detroit line moving laterally. Also, would have been great for play action late in the game, to bootleg the opposite way and run the backside TE to the flat. Those are easy plays to get first downs on. But apparently this whole scheme, much like the 12 personnel we drafted Escobar for, is out the window. Nothing but shotgun. SMH

He doesn't have a play to get Dunbar in Space, Escobar behind a linebacker or Beasley into the flats. Oh wait we do have a few for Beasley but since they were working so well we decided to keep him on the bench today.

Dunbar in space would make a huge difference, the loss of injury prone Murray has hurt.

We needed some creativity to run the clock at the end. A misdirection bootleg pass to a TE would have been a good call. Its too complex for this crew though.

the swing pass to tanner in the first half worked beautifully. more of those would be nice, too. and maybe some designed rollouts -- oh, and, definitely some slants and crossing routes. we hardly even tried those today. they were there for the taking.

I agree Dunbar should get more touches but he won't because they don't trust him hanging onto the ball
