Where is the Leadership? Show Me

Leadership...

When Dez takes off his helmet (granted he had a bad game, but where were the team captains?)...

When Romo is sulking on bench (yet ONLY being down a few points AT HOME)...

When a HC doesn't throw a flag on a play when the spot was obviously wrong and even shown on the scoreboard...

When Free commits his 80th penalty of the year...

When the line gives up consecutive sacks...

Just a few examples. Instead we see a head coach who just looks lost (and sorry I am not impressed with being in 1st in the league's worst division in November -- remember this franchise is about rings -- not November). I see a talented young kid that I almost hope leave to go somewhere where he has a chance to get a ring. A QB who just may be so mentally beaten he just sits, with a look of "what happened" out there. And an All Pro TE who just seems to think that quiet leadership works.

Well, fellas...it doesn't. When Dallas scored on Witten's TD, he should have given the ball to the official, gotten off the field, and motivated the Defense and ST to smack someone in the mouth. Once the D created the fumble/sack, TD, then the "leaders" should have driven the dagger home.

They didn't.

Skip is right. There is no leadership, there is no repercussions for poor play. There is a team that makes $$$ and players that make $$$. That is the new Dallas.

Pardon me for not celebrating barely squeaking by a 1-6 team at home. And hold off on your "troll", or your Seattle is losing to Tampa remarks. If you think this team is in the same "league" as Seattle you're confused.

And save the 1st place garbage. We haven't beaten a team with a winning record. My guess, if we make the playoffs, there might be a few teams with winning records in there.

If there was progression maybe I could find a glimmer, but there is not. There is regression (except creating takeaways, and desperation). But at least Jerruh has a nice stadium, gets all the credit, and has the most valuable franchise. How frustrating would it be for him to have to actually juggle a winning team as well.

Thank you sir. Great post that sums up the current state of the team to perfection. I keep hearing about improvement from this coach but I just don't see any evidence of it. Give Marinelli credit for coaching max. effort and making chicken salad out of you know what.

I've just never seen a sideline like this...never seen a staff not jump people's "stuff" like this...It's almost as if it is acceptable. Why?

Not that I should dignify this ridiculous post with a response, but wasn't Romo giving Dez the business on the way to the sideline after the helmet antics?

Leadership is important, no question. But I don't think it's something we as fans can ever really know.

Romo was giving Dez hell out there. Is that not leadership? What are defining as leadership anyway?

I don't know. I had such high hopes for Garrett when he was hired but he's regressed ever since his 5-3 start under no pressure. How Ozzie Newsome was impressed with this guy is beyond me. They should re-interview Ozzie after what Garrett has offered up. We all know Jerry is the main problem but Garrett looks lost out there far too often. The end of game disasters vs DET, BAL, ARZ have infuriated me the most. Good coaching overcomes that. Garrett is well educated so I'm shocked he's been bad as a coach.

Romo was sulking? Or was he thinking about how he was going to lead the offense 90 yards in nine plays to a last minute win?

Exactly. I don't see anyone sulking. Nobody that runs the team for the game winning TD was sulking on the bench. Just because Romo wasn't going nuclear doesn't mean he or anyone else was sulking.

You can claim that the post is ridiculous yet it seems people around the league (former players, former Dallas players, announcers, experts, fans, etc.) think the same. But hey, I mean 133-132 in 17 years means that things are certainly working around here...sad

What I have figured out around here is that if you preach the "truth," (i.e. this should not be acceptable) the easiest thing to do is try to blow the person off. Again, something that Jerry loves because it means more and more $$$$ from people that have all but given up. Sorry that I challenge the system a little (actually, no...I'm not.)

So Romo wasn't happy after throwing what could have been a costly interception. I'm fine with that. Probably more upset at himself than anything else.

As a leader you shake it off...you get your line and receivers together (after the coaches do -- well here hopefully BEFORE they do), accept blame, and make sure they are mentally ready.

In addition you get the Defensive Captains psyched to help cover you for your mistake.

You don't sulk.

Sorry I'm just going off what Manning, Brady, Brees, and Rodgers do...but what do they know about winning when it compares to us...my bad.

The hell do you think happened on that last possession? An accident?

You've barely seen more than a handful of games those guys have played.

You're spewing things that you've heard on TV.

I, for one have seen Brady "sulk" A LOT.

Peyton too. He's been caught "sulking" on the sidelines also.

How 'bout dat leadership? Never happened? Yeah it has.

C'mon...

You think you're bringing something new? You're fried corned beef re-hash.

I'm sitting here wondering what these posts would look like if the Cowboys lost this game.

Tony Romo saved the season this afternoon and we want to question whether or not he was sulking after an interception. It's like trying to find pimples on a swimsuit model instead of appreciating the good stuff. ;)
