Where is the line regarding the attempt to force turnovers?

As we all know, this defense preaches going after the ball and forcing turnovers. However, at the expense of this we see a lot of slipped tackles and yardage given up that could be prevented. Where does this team draw the line? Off the top of my head, I remember one play that should have been no gain on a 3rd down that we let AP get by for the first. I believe this led the Rudolph touchdown where we clearly should have just brought him down instead of trying to punch the ball out. Also, AP had a touchdown where we stood him up and tried to strip the ball. I just think in certain situations this team needs to stop the runner first, and strip the ball second. I love the turnover aggressiveness they bring, just not all the time.
