This coming from a person who has Dana Owens as their avi 24/7 Com-ical. you know she isn't a real queen right? also there was no questioning regarding the GM nor was I asking for an opinion. L2read instead of swapping your new dana owens avi bro and texting at movie theaters.

lol. Attacking the forum staff. That'll end well with your time here.

Whatever. Forget Floyd.

There are really only 3 players that were selected from Escobar to TWill that are worth mentioning.

Eddie Lacy - needs no intro
Larry Worford - OG Starter for Lions every game
Brian Winters - OG Starter for jets last 5 games

I don't see anyone else really contributing right now. But the 3 above would be starting for us this weekend and maybe all year :)

I really think if we grabbed Lacy that early that fans would've reacted with some frustration but not to the same extent of Escobar (not a freakish athlete). Escobar was just not extraordinary in any arena, fans saw a slow (fluid albeit), weak, TE that may snab you a couple of redzone TDs to "justify" the pick but little else. Lacy may have brought the "no rbs until 4th rd and beyond crowd" but would accept him as an instant contributor.

If we doubled down on the OL and picked up Warford in the 2nd after the trade down, this place would've gave JJ crap about needing to OVER invest due to inefficient OL attention in the past. Yes it would be ideal now and I am in no way a JJ supporter. We had/have money that could've been spent on turning over "expensive" rocks to see if a veteran FA could help stabilize this OL, but we hear from Dallas PR that they must be SIGNIFICANTLY better than Mack to even consider bringing them in? You can be mad and happy at the same time with this thing.

Obviously I have no proof, but I think Floyd would be excelling in marenelli's system right now. A huge part of a rookie succeeding is where they end up and how they are coached. I'm not upset at the pick, but I dont see how someone can sit back and say I told you so 9 games later.

Turns out the Floyd thing will probably never be a big deal.

But the trade up for Claiborne always will be.

Brockers/Wagner starting with this defense would be pretty awesome if that is the route they actually took like they said.

I understood drafting a corner because they were uncomfortable paying Jenkins. But man this defense would be a lot better right now with Jenkins, brockers and Wagner. It might actually be a strength of the team.

When he said it it was.

When it was said, our starters were Ware, Ratliff, Hatcher, and Spencer with Crawford and a few others as backups.

When it was said, he was telling the truth.

Not exactly. There was far too much dependence on 30 year old beat up players, a malingerer and the strange resolution that Crawford would absolutely be ready. The misevaluation of the existing talent along with the injuries have been damaging---especially believing Ratliff would be the center piece.

The comments about the meeting room being full were even more telling, which led them to ignoring the line through all seven rounds of the draft and even through the UDFA process. Adding even a player or two thereafter would have been helpful with the injuries.

While I admire the job that has been done with signing players off the street, it could have been avoided. Plus we would have had talent to get even more prepared to step up had they been in the offseason program all along.

I agree completely. Trading down and getting two quality starters certainly is more preferable than trading up for a player that may never be elite.

Brockers and Wagner are interestingly enough two players that if you plugged them in right now for Hayden and Carter (although I am not giving up on him) would be huge.

I was thinking more that Wagner would be playing the strong side here. Carter lee and Wagner.

At the end of the day there are enough holes on both sides that had they gone this route last year and drafted say Floyd and Logan this year we still would be weak at end because of injuries and we would have costa and Harris starting at wr.

So we would probably be really struggling at those positions. Plus who knows where Wilcox fits in this different scenario.

Either way we would have ended up short at wr, de, lb, center or safety in either scenario.

At least we have marinelli coaching the weak spot. It could be much worse.

*sigh*

As if 9 games into the year tells the whole story... Context is everything when it comes to rueing.

T-Fred's and T-Will's play has been solid enough that even if folks still lament not drafting Floyd, they're not unhappy with those guys.

Also, considering we have a bunch of guys on the D-Line that I think even the most diehard fan couldn't name without looking it up, I think Floyd would've played AND been a huge help to the line. But considering how things have gone, injury-wise, the guy would've been on IR by now.

Sometimes another person just says it better than oneself. So this oneself is acknowledging that by re posting a terrific post.

Well? Anyone? I was waiting and waiting all week for someone to rue over us not taking him because we had him rated in the "top 5" of the board. you guys who whined and whined about fred and t will are eating crow and i want you to own up. goes to show no poster will ever be more knowledgble then ANY (yes including the trainwreck that is JJ) professional level coach, scout, and even GM. i dislike JJ as a GM like everyone else but goes to show you arm chair GMS and scouts know nothing.

Agee with the first points, our trade and subsequent picks are looking genius now. However, tend to disagree on the latter. Half of this board could've drafted better, heck a monkey could've, in 2009. The scouts see the exact same footage we do and nowadays interviews and inside stories nearly always make it into the press as does opinions on players from other scouts. It's like saying no one could ever make a better diagnosis than a doctor because they have all this schooling and training, however it happens all the time. If pro scouts are so good how does Brady make it to the sixth round while akili smith busts at three?

Brockers could have never happened. Rams wanted him all along and picked higher until that trade.
