I want to believe the defense just needs better coaching.

There needs to be a "Jerry Sells Team!" headline first. Or, "Hell Freezes!"

It needs a scheme suited to its players: primarily a man scheme with heavy blitzing.

We don't have a bunch of guys with talent to win one on one up front.

Our secondary guys can mostly beat their man in man coverage. So you play them in zone.

And our defensive front guys are man up on their man instead of overwhelming blockers with numbers.

It makes it easy for the offense to execute.

Not only are you not getting to the passer fast enough, you're also giving the offense a bigger cushion to make plays on you.

It doesn't matter if you stop the run if you can never stop the pass. And you can't stop the pass when you just give them the play.

It's not even execution here.


This mindless scheme makes zero sense.

I just don't understand the refusal to play to the players' strengths. The defense is exposed and vulnerable out there. Why won't they make that change?

They won’t install a new defense mid season. It would just be some other dude on the staff running Eberflus’ defense with a couple of “for show” tweaks, which are the same kind of things we’ll see from Eberflus anyway.

Zimmer had Parsons last season and they still were ranked 31st for total defense.

The only team that had more points scored against them was the Panthers.

You'd have to be a complete fool to keep Eberflus in charge of the defense. I'm telling you. The players aren't this bad. The Uberpus scheme and the play-calling has ruined the 2025 season before it even really started.

Give fans the headline we all want. It certainly can't hurt, and might just help.
