During the Super Bowl, they're going to be gunshy in calling some penalties.

The guy made a Super Bowl winning catch. They're not going to penalize him for that, especially in the mayhem that ensued.

what?

they called a personal foul on wilson for basically bumping into the placeholder.

Why would they not uphold one of the main rules they have been enforcing for two years and talking about constantly?

They blew it, it looks really bad for them, this coupled with no review of that final play.

IT was a horrendous year for NFL officials, no wonder mike perreira is retiring. They continued their poor ways tonight.

ON the game winning TD, the officials blew an easy obvious excessive celebration.

Holmes used the ball as a prop.

It should have been excessive celebration using the ball as a prop.

That penalty would have been enforced on the kickoff.

The kickoff would have been from the 20 instead of the 35, If you add 15 yards to arringtons run he is almost to midfield and they had 2 timeouts.

Earlier in the game when fitzgerald scored his first TD, u can see the officials watching fitzgerald like a hawk as he ran back to his sideline.

Yet no penalty on Holmes?

I never believed in the steelers get all the calls mumbo jumbo till now. That was flat out ridiculous.

and how exactly do you not review the warner fumble?

Looks pretty bad for the nfl.

throw in the fact that ward and harrison threw punches with fists and didnt get ejected, pretty absurd.

Yeah, all 3 of those were very obvious "blown" calls IMO.

Especially the Warner "fumble". Why the heck was that not reviewed? It would have given Warner one last chance at least for a hail mary.

oh so the rules can just be adjusted at any time?

whatever.

If its a rule call it. Its not judgemental, if the is used as a prop its 15 yards n the kickoff.

Why is this so hard to understand?

so wah wah wah yourself.

if the rules dont apply, the cardinals should have put 20 guys on the field to play defense during the final drive.

Ya the officiating was pretty bad. I saw a buncha bad calls. Harrison punching that guy when he was down, even Madden said he should be booted from the game for that. Block in the back. A couple missed holds.

But its the Steelers so I digress.

He didn't bump into the placeholder. He pushed the placeholder. That's going to get called every time.

Don't compare that infraction with this one.

Look, it should have been called. It's a rule, and Holmes should have been flagged.

But the refs aren't going to make that call on a game winning play in the Super Bowl, especially given all the hoopla that surrounded that play.

Agreed. Its a rule and call it.

Holmes goes from hero to goat in a matter of a few mins by giving Cards 15 extra yards.

I hate how officiating is inconsistent.

Because it was the gamewinning TD - dont call the penalty. We know good and well that if it was TO the refs would be eyeballing him, just waiting for that.... THEN they would make the call.

The penalty would have not affected the TD at all.

so that point really doesnt matter.

I was wondering where the penalty on Warner for taking the helmet off was at.

yes a rule was broken, and it should have benn called by rule but at the same time the ones who are complaining are saying the refs shouldnt decide the outcome......well , wouldnt that be deciding the outcome.......shouldnt the Cards have to earn their yardage ? not have it handed to them because of celebrating a TD? we all know the refs suck and blew some calls but it didnt decide the outcome..i was more amazed by the 3rd qtr running into holder and the no call int grounding on Ben....

I would like to thank Theebs again for posting those photos of Santonio Holmes using the ball as a prop, which didn't draw a penalty. My local ESPN radio affiliate, www.espn977.com, has a daily sports talk show called Fox & Company.

They were discussing the Super Bowl. Since I caught the show late (the show is from 3 - 6 Monday through Friday and I called about 5:30), I asked if anyone had talked about the no-call on Holmes. Surprisingly, no one had up to that point, so I told them that I had the photos to prove it and emailed your photos to the show.

Sure enough, they hadn't seen the photos and agreed that the Cardinals got hosed on that no-call. I had included your name at the beginning of the email to see if they would announce your name as credit for the photos, but they didn't. I'll have to get onto them about that the next time I call in.

And yes, Reality & moderators. I also credited CowboysZone.com, but they missed stating that too. Thanks again Theebs! ;) :D

See, that wasn't so hard.

No. But I'm not making excuse, I'm just saying they're not going to call that penalty.

Furthermore, upon examination, Holmes didn't immediately go into using the ball as a prop. His first reaction after catching the ball was to sit on the field. There was a significant lapse of time between the catch and the "salt shaker" celebration (adding the review) that I doubt any ref would have called a penalty.

They're just not going to call that play in a game of this magnitude.

Personally, I think the review on the Cardinals' last possession was more egregious. We were robbed of a chance to see Fitzgerald catch a Hail Mary, or attempt to catch one.

But it would have affected the game. Again, they're likely not going to make that call especially when the celebration didn't come exactly after the touchdown.

See my post above.
