I understand its difficult to rate an OT VS an OG or a OC, but thats kind of the point. Id like to here different POV' s on this.

IMO his only real competion at OT is Thomas, Williams and Whiteworth ( whom I believe is still underrated) . Staley and Peters I believe are a tier below these four.

The only two OG's that you could justify rating higher would be Yanda and his line mate Martin.

OC's, I don't see anyone in his class. The top 3 IMO are Markice Pouncey, Frederick and Mangold. Pouncey is too inconsistent. Frederick still has some issues in pass pro and Mangold isn't what he was.

Im gonna go Cowboys at 1 and 3

- Smith. Him and Trent Williams are neck and neck IMO. I think Smith is just a little better overall

-Williams. Dominant LT, who is even with Smith as a power rusher, but I don't think is finesse ability is quite on par.

- Martin. Edges out both Thomas and Yanda. Complete OG who gets this spot because of impact. Cowboys OL when from decent to dominant once he got here.

- Joe Thomas. Elder statesman of Elite OT, but I think he has finally given up the top spot to the younger guys

- Marshal Yanda. May have been the most dominant OL the past couple years, tit for tat is Martins equal at least. But I dont think he impacts the game quite as much as Martin

He's a great blend of athleticism and technique. I would not take a single OL over him.

But as far as who is above him or in his range now...?

T:
Thomas is above, Peters is a tie. Williams trails closely at the moment.

G: maybe Yanda above.

C: no one.

Personally I think he will be the absolute best lineman in the league this year.

The top of the OT tier is tough. I think its a pickem between Smith, Thomas and Williams. Peters I dont think is consistent enough. Reminds me a bit of Flo. Can dominate the best pass rushers in the game, but can also get abused if he is off

Peters is incredible. He is all athlete, very little technique. But he also had a bad December and I think 34 years is a little up there to keep that up.

I grandfathered Thomas' success in-- kinda like Calvin still being considered the best. However the difference is Thomas had a great year last year, so he gets the nod.

I really consider Smith the next Thomas with better physical upside.

Williams had a mediocre year last year, but also pretty good and still pretty young (25 or 26 still?)

Only guy at OT that comes to mind is Joe Thomas.

Joe Thomas is 30 years old. 8 Probowls. 5 1st team All-Pros.

I don't see a lot of Cleveland games. Has his gamed declined at all?

Yanda and Martin are the two best lineman in the league. Smith is probably top 5 though. I rank Joe Thomas and Trent Williams better. Smith is 3rd for me.

Peters to me is this generations Adams. Just cant put it all together to be complete. If I had to pick a OT to go into the season with, I might actually take Whitworth over him

Yes, and players on popular team tend to garner a disproportionate number of the pro-bowl votes. The 5 1st team All-Pros <along> with the 8 Pro-bowlers is probably a stronger sign this guy is for real.

You will get replies, but if people are honest, they don't really spend much if any time evaluating other team's OLinemen.

Tyron didn't have the best season last year, but I think he was playing through an injury.

I wouldn't put Smith at the top of the heap at OT. He's great in the run game, and cannot be power rushed. Where he needs to improve is that he has a tendency to over set against the wide rush, and will allow pressure inside if the opposing DE does a spin move or an inside counter move. Trent Williams can be lazy, but he is a load in the run game. Joe Thomas is still the standard. He's one of the best that I have seen in maintaining his balance, and does not allow inside pressure. He can be stressed with speed, but not very often. Andrew Whitworth is very underrated, and while he doesn't look pretty, he gets the job done. I would put Smith at #2 behind Thomas, and if Smith can improve on handling inside moves, he will be the best.
