Cornerback or Free Safety

They might make their Safeties interchangeable between the deep Safety and the box Safety because it's the box Safety that is often in coverage against the TE which is where they want Jones but in some situations they will want him deep.

In the Giants games based on snaps count data and watching the game footage, it appears that Jones played in place of both Church as the box Safety and in place of Wilcox as the deep Safety at times and at other times he was on the field with both Church and Wilcox.

He played 75% of the snaps against the Giants and 97% against the Pats.

I really wanted to see him replace Carr because I think Carr is a bigger liability than Church/Wilcox based on my review of critical failed plays; however, for a rookie they have already given him a lot to learn in his hybrid role of TE coverage specialist and part time Safety.

where ever the coaches (not the fans who would move pete roses mom to safety) say he should play.

i'll never get the "convert them to safety" facination.

Converting them to safety rarely works, which is why I rather Dallas let Jones stay at corner.

I've always thought he'd be a better safety. However, after watching him these last few games (and specifically his work on Gronk) I think his cover skills are too valuable. He should be a corner, imo.

Free Safety !!!!!! I think that is his natural position but if we draft another real safety next year then you can move him back to corner but it makes too much sense to play him at safety now. Jones may be the first real safety we have had in a very long time.

He's a Safety imo.

In man coverage, he could be more fluid in his change of direction against quick receivers. That is why the cowboys like him vs tight ends. He's got the perfect size and athleticism to deal with today's NFL tight ends. Eventually I'd like to put him at FS and let him be our centerfielder who can read the QB and play with range.

Would love him to play FS.

But he has arguably been our best corner on defense. Dude nearly shut down Gronk.

I have really been impressed with Jones's play as a rookie and he can be the upgrade at the FS position that the team has needed for years.
