Where's the draw?

Simple question: Where are the draw plays? Seems like we run like 2 or 3 a game max. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Julius runs the draw very well. Infact, I think all of his runs at the end of the Seattle game (last 2 drives or so) two years ago were draws, and he racked up serious yardage. His whole rookie season, or atleast what he played was full of draws and he did well. We have the passing game to set up the draw and the few times we do, it works. So my question is: Why don't we use the draw more?

Because the draw takes a little time to develop, and by then the D-linemen are in out backfield.

I agree especially off a 3 wr set. JuJo is a space runner, but they want to make him run off a bunch formations.

Thats the worst formation to run off ofbecause TG or PC have to done their job on the CB covering them. Just go back and see that the cb who is lined up tight on that bunch formation shoots in to disrupt the play.

Great question. I don't know if this current O-line executes plays as well as that 04 team, which had a healthy Flozell and LA. JuJo was awesome in that Seattle game with one draw after another. He was unstoppable. One of his TDs was called back due to penalty, so it could've been even more impressive.

Maybe if we hired Quick Draw McGraw it wouldn't take so long...

The better bet would be Riquochet Rabbit (or is it Rick-O-Shay?) - he would find a hole.

I got to agree with your assessment on this, especially since it's been statistically proven that Julius runs the draw well. What's frustrating is that they still seem insistent on running Julius up the middle and from charting the first half, he's not very good on runs up the middle as he just doesn't grind out those tough yards or push the pile forward. His TD came on a run up the middle, but it was a wham block trap play.....not our usual Isolation or Dive play up the middle.

I understand that they need to run Julius up the middle on those plays to keep the defense honest, but when I chart the game it's frustrating seeing them run Julius on plays that he doesn't usually do very well and avoid running him on plays that he typically excels at.

Of course the irony is that a draw is a run up the middle. ;)

IMO it's because the defense is stacking the box. They now know applying pressure up the middle will rattle Bledsoe and cause him to make mistakes and in the process they are able to stop the run.

But instead of trying to adjust to there defense, we bascially stay with the same gameplan and the same playcalling. The only way the offense is going to change the playcalling is if Bledsoe for some reason get's hurt and Romo comes in. Romo can run some plays that Bledsoe can't like bootlegs and stuff of the nature.

I was about to point out the same thing.

The other thing I was going to point out (and I think I still will) is that Julius statistically proved he could run the draw - 2 years ago. Last year was a different story other than one game, and this year the run blocking seems to be as bad as last year. You can't run a draw when your O-linemen can't hold the D-line out of the backfield for a few ticks of the stopwatch.
