he just officially got cut. Target for us?
He can have Hardys money IMO and keep us from being tempted to draft Bosa.

He can have some of hardy's money and it can have no impact on the draft.

I'll take him all day over Hardy. Would cost less and possibly could be more productive. I'd like to come into next season with at least one of these three... Bosa, Mario, or Hardy.

how would he cost less then a player with a pretty much destroyed market?

I'd take him, knuckleheads want to say he got released and only had 5 sacks but was a bad scheme fit.

I'd be ok with it if the guaranteed money was way low. He quit on the bills so who's to say he won't quit in dallas?

This. He is a very selfish person who will quit when things don't go his way. imo he is no better then Hardy as a headcase and will probably be the same price if not cost more at an older age.

Sign him to a 3-4 year deal, right around the time D-Law and Gregory (if he gets his act together) are ready to come off their Rookie deals.

He will quit on us but we're desperate and he's a double digit sack guy usually so as long as he is cheap do the deal.

He's 31 years old. I think he could give us a couple of productive years. Dallas has to pick up a D End thanks to Hardy and Gregory.

He quit on the Bills because of the horrible scheme he was in. Square peg, round hole. I think he would fit in here perfectly.

Agreed. It's definitely not good that he quit on the Bills. But he hated the scheme that didn't fit him. He has no history of quitting before last year. In Dallas, the scheme fits him perfectly and I see him being productive.

It will cost $10m a year for a 4 year deal. I don't see Jerry doing it. I hope he does, but he won't. This move would also preclude us from drafting Bosa as well.

I can see how these negotiations would go.

Here you go, of the top 25 rated free agents on the board:

Jenkins is a top-flight cornerback and only 27 years old, so he’ll be worth premium money on the market. The Rams took his teammate, Trumaine Johnson, off the market by giving him the franchise tag. That actually might help Jenkins too, because he's the best cornerback left on the market.

The production can’t be argued. He had 1,402 rushing yards, a 4.9-yard average and is capable in the passing game as well.

A do-it-all safety who is excellent in coverage and has been really good against the run through the years. Age (31) is a factor, but he can still play.

16. Buffalo Bills DE Mario Williams:
Williams' expected release became official on Tuesday, and it added an interesting name to the free-agent mix. Williams' production really fell off last year, and he's 31 now. But a team could talk itself into that being a result of a bad fit in a new scheme. He had double-digit sacks in each of the three previous seasons.

18. Kansas City Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson: If you want a long-term solution, 33-year-old Johnson isn’t your guy. But he showed last year he’s as good as ever and can still contribute at a high level.

Now just tell Stephen and Jerry to show up opening day of Free Agency with check books in hand...or just don't show up at all.

Those five players would turn the page on an improved defense, and leave building for a future solidly on the team's plate for the draft...

I will start this out by saying I know I will get killed for this and I don't care, bring it on.

Hypothetical Trade:
Cowboys Receive: Muhammad Wilkerson and 2016 3rd round Pick
Jets Receive: Gavin Escobar, Ronald Leary, 2016 2nd round pick, and 2017 4th round pick

Why the Cowboys do it:
Gives them a chance at an elite pass rusher that is a 2x 2nd team all-pro and still only 26. If Jerry truly believes his team is on the cusp of a title, he might be just crazy enough to do it. Wilkerson likely replaces Crawford as our starting 3 tech and allows him to move outside to DE where he would be no longer undersized. This deal only gets done if we believe we can strike a long term deal with Mo which would likely be somewhere between 14-18 a year for his services. This makes things tight but doable with restructures to Tyron and Crawford and the likely cutting or restructure of Carr (not a math wizard but that seems like that would create enough to also fill out our needs with cheaper FAs/pay for draft picks). Escobar and Leary are talented but underutilized pieces that could be expendable. Losing their high 2nd rounder definitely stings, but they get a mid 3rd rounder in return so maybe not too tough a pill to swallow. They also lose a 4th the following year which hurts but isn't devastating especially if Jerry thinks we can compete next year and believes that 4th will be a low one.

Why the Jets do it:
They have holes all over their roster (including at starting QB with Fitz being a FA and the last few days has shown us even average QBs make the big $) and with the tag on Mo have merely 6 mil to fill them before restructures and such. They are desperate to trade Mo and its unlikely any team will offer them the 1st they are asking for right now and also be willing to commit such big money to a guy. This nets them a borderline 1st to acquire more young talent and fills their holes at starting TE (all TEs on their roster had combined 8 receptions last year) and OG (last year's starter Willie Colon is 32, finished on IR, a FA, and is said to be considering retirement) while also acquiring an extra pick for 2017 in the process.

I get that this is extremely unlikely but I just found it kinda interesting. Would also allow us to let Hardy walk which it sounds like we'd like to do. I believe Mo would still be dominant in a 4-3 switch and him along with Lawrence, Gregory, and Crawford gives us one of the younger/high potential lines in the NFL.

One more thing for the Jets: with this draft being so DL talented, a 1st round talent almost for sure will be there when we pick in the 2nd (I'm looking at you Nkemdiche). The Jets could replace their new DE hole with that pick and still stay young along the line.

Thanks man. I would've started a new thread but I don't thinkI have those privileges yet. I'm a long time reader but usually just don't post for whatever reason.
