Where's the Orton blame?

YR is kind of funny. Totally wrong but funny. The Usual Suspects are desperately trying to find a way to blame Romo for the loss.

Bottom line is there is a reason Orton is a back up and Tony is the starter. All the stupidity spewed by some in the world does not change that simple fact.

It doesn't help that people simply cannot comprehend what he wrote. He never said that Orton was as good as Romo, he simply said that -- in a salary cap era -- the difference between Romo's game and Orton's game probably isn't worth the difference in their salaries. It's a stance I happen to agree with.

Would you rather have Romo, or Orton + an elite pass rusher + another solid rotational DL + a solid starting safety (or some other equivalent combination?). Because that's basically what the gap is between the two.

I think I'd win more games with option two, despite the hysteria that comment is likely to cause.

He throws a pick at the end to end our season...

Lol, I actually applaud Orton. He played much better than I anticipated. What I am saying is, different QB, same result. Too many passes and not establishing a balance at the end with running the ball. Our offensive coaching is not playing to the situation of the game.

Still reviewing the tape.

The first pass is that it should maybe be an open training camp next summer b/w him and Romo??

I think actually the Romo hating crew has Orton going in as the starter with the job his to lose.

Hmmm...

..for a guy who had no reps for 2 years..

..last game of the season..

not bad.

..not bad.

I saw a lot of quick releases, quick reads and knew when to throw the ball away.

Not exactly Romo strengths..

..one might say.

Murray and Witt are the ones who killed the offensive momentum that was raging early in the game with their turnovers. Can't blame Orton without lumping in the other two...

Orton is a backup making his first start of the season in the highest pressure game of the year. Under the circumstances I think he did quite well and better than expected. As for Romo, sure he's better. That's why Orton is the backup. But Romo isn't head and shoulders better.

The issue in my mind isn't Orton vs. Romo. What last night showed is that even Orton could give us a chance and we end up with similar results as Romo. The issue is what we could possibly accomplish if we actually brought in a high level quality QB. But I know that won't happen anytime soon since Jerry has tied our future to Romo despite his less than stellar 1-6 record in win or go home games.

Tony Romo homers can't handle that Orton basically played a carbon copy of a typical Romo game.

True. He really did- with a few differences. It felt almost exactly the same- including the end.
This makes me wonder about Romo... and the overall offensive strategy.

If the strategy was more sound, would we have a more successful QB?
Even if it wasn't Romo? I just don't know anymore...

With the OL improving, the team HAS to commit more to the running game next year.
They just have to. They also need an offensive consultant (I say this because I believe JG has too much ego about holding on to his playbook to let it go while he is the coach) to respectfully remind "RUN" into Garrett's ear every series through his earphones before the playcall.

Hopefully "RUN" will go into Romo's headset also in the huddle at the same time, although the consultant would need to repeat himself when he sees Romo surveying the field yelling " KILL KILL KILL!".

Romo- "KILL KILL KILL!"

Consultant- "RUN RUN RUN!"

A good point.

Let's not get carried away.

Honestly this looks more like an offensive philosophy that sets up any QB, even the most talented ones with some real opportunities to LOSE a game rather than win one.
Garrett needs to do some real soul-searching this off-season. This is his last year on his contract- if he'd like a long career as an NFL coach, he needs to correct his severe inherent flaws with his offensive philosophy.

Yeah ok...the ball that hit Witten in the hands was HORRIBLE.

I wonder if you ask Witten that question what his answer would be? He catches that ball ninety-nine out of a hundred.

well to be fair, the ball was thrown behind him, yeah he would catch that any other time but it was not right to his hands nor was it really that good of a pass

I think the Romo surgeries are serious stuff.

If Orton takes the snaps in..

OTAs..

..and into the pre-season..

I think you don't see Romo until the season while they give Romo as long as possible to heal.

In the meantime..if Orton wins..he wins.

Dallas has a huge longterm commitment to Romo.

Until Romo is needed,

..healthy..

..and ready..

we get Orton.

I cannot say you're wrong.
You may very well be right and that may not be a bad thing.
Maybe he does win. I say GREAT.
No name is above a win in my opinion.

All we can do is float along in our lifeboats- set upon our collective courses upon the great Cowboys Current.
Might as well hope for the best along the way. Even if we see rough waters ahead since we don't have paddles or a sail.

Now that doesn't mean we shouldn't curse "the Gods" when they make stupid decision after stupid decision, but here we are- still drifting on the Great Cowboys Current without a sail, rudder or a paddle.

We, as fans have nowhere to go but where the boat takes us.

But- as we already do: we can still curse the course we are being taken and yet still be stranded on our boat. For that is what fans are:

People stranded on a boat they cannot control hoping for the best despite what they see ahead.

Would you like to know why teams like Seattle and San Fran are so strong?

They haven't paid their QB's the big bucks yet because they are still within rookie contracts. They are able to pay and stock up on defense and role players.

the poor guy came into a complete mess compounded by an inept coach, with no field time, no good defense to practice against, not one player to give him a good run for his money, than in his own mind hes screaming "WHY DDI WE STOP THE RUN"

and you want to blame him? No, we should as you stated applaud he stepped up to the plate.

Not a Tolkien fan myself, but I'm not so ignorant to not know Middle Earth.

But if you're offering beer...
I'm there, my good friend.

Now- know I'm in the center of Cartel country so...

I'll have to come to you. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if one of my fellow fan/friends got shot/kidnapped/sacrificed/anything else stupid by these people- because they wanted to hang out with little old me.

Hey..

Understood.

Its going to be a long off-season..

..so when you say Cartels..

..does that mean we are meeting in Mexico out somewhere in the desert with bunch of headlights in a circle..

or do you mean Oil Cartels and you are a Sheik and going to send your Lear Jet over to pick me up?

I mean drug cartels that live even in my own neighborhood (I live in a nice neighborhood in the mountains- which is where they like to stay also, ******...).

I mean those dirtbags that have taken over my beautiful girlfriend's neighborhood and have even started recruiting her nephews at the tender age of 11 and 13.

Now- Those same cartels probably could send a Lear jet over to pick you up and being an enthusiastic user of recreational drugs (all USA grown)- it would most likely be fun, but...

I wouldn't ride with those F's.
