Real franchise QBs don't constantly lead their team to a position where they end up 8 and 8 and miss the play-offs year after year. If Brady or Peyton posted 3 back to pack .500 seasons and missed the play-offs, a replacement would be cultivated ASAP. What is Romo doing that has been so special? Putting up awesome stats? Kyle Orton just put up a nice amount of yards against Philly as a back-up with limited reps and not starting or getting significant time a game in forever. If those stats aren't converting into wins and we aren't getting into the play-offs, then something is wrong. There are two cornerstone constants during this .500 fest. Garrett and Romo. If we can get similar performance from Orton or another QB, then that's what you do. A slightly less talented Orton that is getting paid chump change is better than Romo putting up slightly better stats, but at magnitutes of more money, because we can shore up on so many other positions. You don't pay $100 million to a guy that's pretty solid. You give that kind of money for almost guaranteed playoff appearances.
