The old saying, "you're only as strong as your weakest link" definitely applies to football.

So, which aspect of this team will make us the most vulnerable?

1) New defensive scheme
2) Relying on rookies
3) Bledsoe
4) Lack of Quality Depth at O-line
5) Conservative playcalling/strategy

I'd have to say the new defensive scheme scares me the most. It has the potential to open up a ton of big plays. Couple that with all the rookies playing D and we may have to stomach a few growing pains in the beginning of the season.

i say bledsoe.....cause were gonna be facing kearse and strahan twice each....and cornelius griffin twice and i dont know who else.....but i know that,as good as petitti is and will be, hes still a rookie lined up against 2 of teh best pass rushers in the league....and i dont think gurode or johnson can contain griffin.....remains to be seen tho i suppose i hope our line is already jelled and ready for some domination v SD!

Pass defense. Short-intermediate routes against our LBs will be a problem all year.

Relying on rookies.

That includes FS Davis because he is a rookie at that position IMO.

All of these youngins out there are going to have growing pains.

No question it is the offensive line. Petitti will have his hands full all year, Flozell is so inconsistent you never know what you will get week to week. And so far, I don't have much confidence in Al Johnson/Andre Gurode at center, although I think they can be adequate.

Our achilles heel, no doubt.

If we have any injuries to our OLine, that is going to be a problem for Bledsoe. I like our starting 5, but if any of them get hurt, Bledsoe is going to look like a deer in headlights when facing a pass rush.

Our Defensive Coordinator is the weakest link.

O-Line is the key to the offense working.

Being aggressive on defense is the key to winning games and with Zimmer at the helm I have serious doubts that it will happen.

Larry Allen, and it will get Bledsoe nailed this year. The beatings will continue right where they left off last year on all passing plays. This is not a popular opinion but it is definatly a fact. Hope I am wrong about it because we are much improved in most every other area on the team this year including Quarterback if we can give him any protection at all. Curly

I agree with this quote from Randall Godfrey talking about switching to the 3-4 in an earlier post:

"It's going to take awhile," Godfrey said. "It'll probably take to midseason to get it down and start feeling comfortable."

All of the Zimmer haters are going to have a field day early in the season.

The first 4 are dead even, overall.

One and two are connected, and should improve as we go along.

Three and four are also very connected, and probably worry me the most over the full season.

Five is not a problem at all, in fact it will probably be the saving factor for our season.
