Which Lesson did Jerry Learn?

For all Jerry's mistakes I would like to see him win one more before he turns over the reigns, I really think he has done his best..but struggled at times for sure.

As much as we bag on him he has helped to put together one of the most talented, youthful rosters in the league, AND we have an excellent coaching staff. The narrative about profits is ridiculous. No one wants to win more than Jerry.

Who do you think the owner credits with where the team is right now? The OC, the HC or the people that gave them the talent?

Do you think Booger really thinks another OC couldn't coach this offense? He's got the highest paid skill positions and a top 3 paid OL in the game.

All McC has done is make Booger even more comfortable with how he handles the HC job, talk when Booger asks him to talk.

We really have no idea how the coaching works within that team.

I know this won’t be a popular opinion but as much as I like Kellen Moore, he’s not the absolute #1 key to our success around here. The #1 key to our success is playing QB for us. Not saying I don’t want KM here, but if we lose him or Dan Quinn it will be because we had a great year.

Coordinators are only as good as the talent working for them. Moore has been great but honestly he’s not been doing this long enough to make the HC. Not every 33 year old is Sean McVey.
And Sean McVay got completely owned by NE in the super bowl. Prolly due to age.

BS. Jerry himself proclaimed that he'd have been fired as GM from any other franchise. How can you say he wants to win when he insists on a bad GM?

What proof do you have that Jerry helped?

And thats what he did with kellen too .

He told Big M , kellen was already signed . & that was non-negotiable .
That is counter to what was known at that time. Moore was released and offered the OC job at UWA and McC talked him into coming back as his OC.

If Moore knew he was signed by the Cowboys, he sure didn't act like it because he was in a heavy lean toward going back home. And he still may do that, only as a HC.

I do not think Moore was forced on McC but I do think he was in the mode of making his new employer happy and amenable to bringing him back. McC wasn't forced to keep any coaches and hired Mike Nolan, why would Moore have been forced on him? Booger stated he wanted an experienced NFL HC for a reason. To hire the other coaches because he finally realized they were not good at that.

IF Jerry were to hire Kellen More, then he never actually learned anything. The situation is reversed today. We would've loved to have Payton over the Wade and Garrett clown show after Parcells left. But we finally have a coach here that is far and away better than that situation.. and the team is better because of it.

He's in charge, that means it's ultimately on his shoulders. You can't give him all the blame and none of the credit. Pick one, is he accountable or not? He absolutely wants to win. He hasn't fired himself because he doesn't believe there is anyone that can do it better. Stop with the trash narrative he doesn't care, it's just stupid.

I can't help but wonder why so many in our membership are so unwilling to accept success and stop holding grudges that are best relegated to the past. Those of us who can't accept success without accomodating a more forgiving approach to reality can never be happy. Once and for all, be really good to yourselves and appreciate the present, for it's own rewards. You can do this, if only you'd see fit to try. The last twenty-five years are gone forever. Treat yourselves to accepting better times and you'll learn to enjoy life better, by far.

You do not give a 33 year old with 4 years coaching experience the reigns of the most valuable sports team in the world ......... just promise him the job in a few years if he keeps it up and make him a millionaire.
why not? The rams gave the HC job to someone with no HC experience and wasnt even 31 years old. He had also never even been the head guy running an offense.
Moore has shown to be mature, smart, and appears to connect with players. If we dont make the SB this year, Id axe Mike and not think twice.

I'm curious what you will do when Jethro lifts that 6th Lombardi trophy? ;)
Brother I have been a fan for 46 years!
Living most of that time 45 miles outside of DC.
If they win another sb I don't know what I would do.
I would be one happy camper though and glad to share my joy with all you fellow zoners!!!!!

So another who to keep thread. Jerry doesn't learn unless it fills his pocket. Since he hasn't been penalized for all his football incompetence, I will say he hasn't learned anything.

W hen has the Dallas Cowboys NOT filled Jerry's pockets? Everytime I read comments about Jerry needing to make more money I laugh. Jerry makes money hand over fist not even trying. He goes to bed and wakes up the next morning having made more money than most of us will make in 10 years just by his stock portfolio.

Someone with his money doesnt think about how much hes making as much as you think about how much hes making.

Make no mistake super Jerry is large and in charge. It feels like he has handed over control of the roster and the playtime to the coaches and it has paid off big time but that will only make Jerry feel inadequate. he won't be able to help himself. He will get involved again and mess everything up somehow.

We had an up and coming young OC and an older very experienced HC.
Jerry let the young OC go and he became a fixture at his new team for many years and won a SB.

Fast forward a few years:

Same scenario. Only this time the older HC was let go.
The highly sought after OC got the HC gig and did very little in the ten years he coached before departing.

We are seeing Jerry facing this same scenario for a third time.
Which experience is gonna flavor his decision?

Bonus points to the Zoner who can put the names with my 2 examples.
Garrett was only a head coach for I think 5 years.

Wow!
Very well spoken my friend.
Negative emotions such as bitterness and resentment only hurt the one carrying them.

Jerry has been one of this team’s problems to overcome. He hasn’t done everything wrong, but he’s never been willing to understand how he can get credit for hiring good people and letting them do their jobs.

If we end up with a deep playoff run this year, Jerry will get and deserve some credit. But the guy has been a huge anchor on this team’s back for decades. He’s a genius at making money. But as a GM, he’s basically a football fan with GM authority. Who has had chance after chance after chance that all other GMs in the league never get.

Jerry’s like the rich guy at the Vegas craps table who is so rich, he will never run out of rolls of the dice. After 26 dice rolls, we have to hope he finally rolls boxcars.
