Which Lesson did Jerry Learn?

We had an up and coming young OC and an older very experienced HC.
Jerry let the young OC go and he became a fixture at his new team for many years and won a SB.

Fast forward a few years:

Same scenario. Only this time the older HC was let go.
The highly sought after OC got the HC gig and did very little in the ten years he coached before departing.

We are seeing Jerry facing this same scenario for a third time.
Which experience is gonna flavor his decision?

Bonus points to the Zoner who can put the names with my 2 examples.

Bill Parcells and Sean Payton for the first scenario, and Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett for the other one.

I know this won’t be a popular opinion but as much as I like Kellen Moore, he’s not the absolute #1 key to our success around here. The #1 key to our success is playing QB for us. Not saying I don’t want KM here, but if we lose him or Dan Quinn it will be because we had a great year.

Coordinators are only as good as the talent working for them. Moore has been great but honestly he’s not been doing this long enough to make the HC. Not every 33 year old is Sean McVey.
Good points Bob!
Thanks for sharing your insights.

Jerry has been one of this team’s problems to overcome. He hasn’t done everything wrong, but he’s never been willing to understand how he can get credit for hiring good people and letting them do their jobs.

If we end up with a deep playoff run this year, Jerry will get and deserve some credit. But the guy has been a huge anchor on this team’s back for decades. He’s a genius at making money. But as a GM, he’s basically a football fan with GM authority. Who has had chance after chance after chance that all other GMs in the league never get.

Jerry’s like the rich guy at the Vegas craps table who is so rich, he will never run out of rolls of the dice. After 26 dice rolls, we have to hope he finally rolls boxcars.
Very well said!!!!!!!

With Sean Payton it is important to remember prior to joining Dallas he had his play calling duties revoked. When he was offered the Saints job he was not thought of as he is now.

Sean Payton who has done nothing since that SB, with one of the best QB”s ever.
Fans need to get over that.

Clapper of course was the other guy, and a wasted 10 years.
Actually wasted 7 years as he should have been let go after those three 8-8 seasons.

Done nothing hit achieved what many franchises still haven’t achieved..

They got robbed a few years ago on a clear PI and one of the best QBs ever threw a bunch of one headed INTs against the Bucs giving them short field to work with just last year. Plus, the Saints got robbed because of “Bounty gate” and Payton always has his teams play-off competitive.

And Sean McVay got completely owned by NE in the super bowl. Prolly due to age.

No he didn’t.. he got his team, led by Jared Goff to the SB…. The same Goff who basically lost them the SB..

And the OL and RG was built by Callahan in reality…

Don't surround yourself with only Yes men.
Don't mess with a good thing .
Defense is the key to a super bowl.
Don't forget that the other teams also pay their players .
