THis is who I think will most likely be gon either from being cut or spot taken by FA/Rookie:

QB Johnson
G Procter
G Berger
WR Stanback
DT Tank Johnson
LB Carpenter
LB Octavius
LB Thomas
LB Ellis
DB Henry
DB Davis
DB Brown/Watkins
P Paulescu

If we could upgrade this 20% of the roster, this would be a big step forward.

There's not much chance of us cutting a player who just signed a big contract, nor is there much chance of us cutting a cheap starter just because he hasn't lived up to his draft status. And the fringe guys under contract almost certainly will be in training camp. Whether they stick around longer than that is up to them.

Stuck with Hamlin. We just gave him a huge contract before the season started. Same with Flozell.

Canty is a free agent, so his status remains to be seen. He didn't play very well this year IMO. Spears played much better than he did.

All of them except for Choice, Witten, Canty, Holland, Ware, Felix, Ratiff and TO. Romo take Jessica go straight to France and get the hell out, and take the rest of the team with you.
Don't forget about Folk. That guy is money

It's not the players.

We'll get the normal roster churn with a little extra added in to accomodate the return of the walking wounded.

Jerry is not hiring a GM. He'll either change his mind or he won't about Wade. That's the key variable here.

Here's my list. Wishful thinking. I say draft 3-4 new young QB's.

Players:

  1. Terrell Owens (Captain Controversy)
  2. Tony Romo (Sick of him.)
  3. Cory Procter (Worthless blocker)
  4. Brad Johnson (ROFL You already know why)
  5. Sam Paulescu (Sucks)
  6. Pacman Jones (Drama)
  7. Tank Johnson (Drama)
  8. Bobby Carpenter (Waste of air, a joke of a football player)
  9. Roy Williams (Safety, hate to say it but he's useless now)
  10. Brooks Bollinger (Nearly as bad as BJ)
  11. Isaiah Stanback (Needs too much work, too many WR)
  12. Patrick Crayton (Drama + Hands suck now + too many WR).
  13. Tony Curtis (Why do we need him? Witten and Bennett)

Coaching:

  1. Wade Phillips (We need a real coach, thanks.)
  2. Brian Stewart (Useless worst playcaller ever)
  3. Jerry Jones (.........Don't ask.)
  4. Jason Garrett (Was great last year, I think he's on drugs this year)
Parts of me understand you all wanting to get Flozell out, but I dare you to go find a guy who wants to play as much and has as much ability at blocking as him. He's deaf in his right ear. Give the guy a break. He makes up for his penalties with great blocking. Keep him, IMO.

I expect we'll get a new defensive coordinator and a new special teams coach and that's it. Wade gets one more year and the rest of us either win the lottery (the players teach themselves discipline and heart) or the Great 2009 Shaft.

All 11 starters on offense will be back. I'm not sure if that's a good thing but they are all under contract. Hopefully, with a 3-headed monster at RB and Roy Williams with a training camp, there will be improvement. IMO Jason Garrett, if back, needs to open up the offense and stop being so damn predictable.

On defense, I would let Tank Johnson, Chris Canty, Kevin Burnett and Zach Thomas all walk. I would also seriously consider waiving Roy Williams, Greg Ellis, Anthony Henry, and Pacman Jones. You can't completely blow up the whole defense but why keep anyone associated with this heartless unit if you don't have to. Build around DeMarcus Ware, Bradie James, and Jay Ratliff. I've also said this all season and I will keep saying it until it's no longer an issue... move Hamlin to strong safety and get a ballhawk free safety.

That means possibly 4 new starters on defense and I'm all for that.

Two things we also need is a real punt returner and a kickoff specialist. That may be two "wasted" roster spots in some people's opinions but I believe that every yard counts. We lose too many yeards with Folk's horrible kickoffs. same deal with "Fair Catch" Crayton and Pacman Jones running sideways and backwards.

Jason Witten

Dallas can get lots of draft picks for him. Don't get me wrong, I like Witten, he's one of the best TE's in the game, but frankly, Bennett can do the job Witten does now.

Also, if we're gonna stick with Romo, I think getting rid of Witten is key to helping Romo find the other receivers. Being best friends, I think Romo just naturally turns to him when he needs help, so it ends up being the same on the field. There's no conspiracy here between Witten/Romo, I think they just spend enough time together than it has had an effect on Romo's thought process on the field. It won't be a Hershel Walker type blockbuster trade, but it can be a trade that helps Dallas immediately. The team is the #1 priority.

Dallas should also trade a couple of guys to Oakland and get Johnnie Lee Higgins. I think he replaces Stanback/Hurd. He's finally getting a chance to prove himself as a WR (and looking good) and has proved himself all year as a returner.

i don't think I've ever disagreed with a post more. Trade the one guy who has heart? I've been a Cowboy fan through the worst of it but I would lose it if they traded Witten.

Higgins is okay but you can find guys like him with one draft pick (and theyw ill be cheaper), no need to trade a few.

The list should start and end with Pacman. He's a dumb guy and a dumb football player. Brad Johnson needs to go as well.
