Which would you rather have? A team that is bad to mediocre that plays 100% all the time, or a godd team that gives lackluster effort?

:banghead: I’ve thought about this quite a bit over the last couple of weeks. And having been a Cowboys fan since 1969, I have a pretty good historical persspective. I would rather have a bad team that gives 100% than a good team that plays half-as….hearted. I’ve seen some Cowboys teams come out to play and give up when there was no hope. I’ve seen some Cowboys teams that came out and played above their heads and got wins. I’ve seen some Cowboys teams come out and play above their head and get respectible losses. Even in the Campo years we had George Teague to knock TO off the Star. He had pride. Dat Ngyuen had a motor that never stopped, even on teams that weren’t going anywhere. Danny White played in the shadow of THE QB of the Cowboys and never left anything on the field. I can’t, and won’t, ever stop rooting for the Cowboys. But I’ve got to tell you, I’ve stopped feeling like my loyalty as a fan is being repaid in kind by some of the players on the field.

Why should I give my all as a fan when the players on my team are not giving their all on the field?

Why should I care about this team when some of those players don’t seem to give a crap?

I guess what dissapoints me most is the lack of pride and professionalism exhibited by some of the players. They are playing in the Big Room of Las Vegas, to use BP’s quote, and they’re playing like they don’t even deserve to be in the Casino.

I’ll piss and moan about the lackadaisical effort the last couple of weeks, but I’ll be right there watching the Detroit game, and hoping that we can get to the Super Bowl.

Thanks for the insightful replies. It is Times New Roman font copy/pasted from a Word document. It was size 10 on the Word document, but it seems to have lost it's formatting when it was pasted into the reply box.

I want classic Cowboys...some star players we are proud of, grouped with character guys who give 100% all the time, a team that may not be the best on paper, but beats the teams that should win and claims another title in classic Cowboys fashion...if not, a team that plays that way and gets close...a team I can be proud of...that's what has kept me around all these years, starting with the original Landry Cowboys who "couldn't win the big one" until they did.

BTW...in case no one mentioned it...That's a terrible font. :)

I hate to tell you this Rackat, but I can practically guarantee a LOSS to Detroit. Look no farther than last year when all BP & Co. had to do was beat the Rams (whom, as I recall, were struggling mightily at the time) to MAKE THE POs no less, and they coudn't even do that.

I know, the apologists want to say the team was young, it will take time, blah, blah, blah... But the bottom line is that it happens every time w/ this coaching staff. To tell the truth I think Parcells has completely lost this team just as Tom Coughlin has lost the Giants, because it is so painfully obvious that very few players are interested in doing anything except counting their money...

We were already eliminated by the time we played the Rams.

I want a team that gets mad when it starts losing. Every team loses, but if a players would show fire and play their very best, a loss wouldn't hurt so much. It just upsets me when the team comes out flat and starts losing from the get go. The team seems to not care and BP seems to be the same way.

Correct!! bp and his coaching staff has done this every year. BP will always be concervative and will insist his coordinator follow his word to the letter. Bp has upgraded our team , however without a new attacking 3-4 and a killer mentality on offense. We will continue to fail each year. Thanks BP for the upgrade but go away now and let us become a true force in this league!

Bp's coaching style is arcaic and long past it's prime. We need a new approach and that will never happen with BP here! T.O. has some drops yet he still has 12 td's he is a pain in the arse but he is not our problem.

BP's 3-4 and inability to change his philosophy to match his talent and todays game. BP and staff out. bring in someone to take us to the promise land. I assure you with BP and his stooges on this team next year we end up the same way at the end of the year!
