Who are some of your favorite cornerbacks we've had in this century?

I liked T-Newman. Shame he couldn't stay healthy here then found the fountain of youth with the Bengals/Vikings.

Byron Jones was legally blind to the football, but played well at corner and also never complained or held out while on the 5th year option.
Jones was a bad case…..he played CB great for one year with us, before that our genius D coaches played him at S where he was just average.

Kevin Smith was really good. That Achilles derailed him some, but still played well with Deion on the other side for a couple years.

Sanders (my favorite player of all time)
Diggs
Gilmore
Henry

I ask this question bc it’s been a weird position. I got a guy that comes in mind that I kinda miss. He went to Kansas state and was 28 when we drafted him.

There was another fella who was solid. His initial were AH and I think he wore 42.

One of the other favorites is Phlibrut Gorzonkez
Newman, Henry, Glenn was the best trio we have had since i started watching in 99.

You guys are missing the assignment! The OP said "this century"...meaning year 2000 and on.
I agree with T. Newman. Diggs, initially in his first years, and Jordan Lewis. I thought Orlando Scandrick was good. I like Bland. I hope he can stay away from the injury bug.
Technically, it’s year 2001 and on. That’s just me being a butt head.

I can’t say I’ve been crazy about any corners of the last 25 years. A few had brief stretches of success but only brief. Most of Dallas corners have been chasers… can’t track the ball or launchers afraid to tackle or the dreaded BOTH.

my 3 ALL-TIME favorites:
☆mel renfro
☆cornell green
☆everson walls

Maybe i missunderstood your question. But those are the ones i liked to watch. Not Cowboys exclusive.

- Deion

- Champ

To a degree:
- Charles Woodson
- Darelle Revis
- Sherman

Byron Jones could run with any receiver but couldn’t track the ball and did he EVER get an interception? Great athlete and willing tackler - it just didn’t add up to dominant cornerback. Frustrating and good example of CB position for too many years now.

True. There are not really great CBs to play the game.

You habe to factor in also the changes to the game that favours the offensive players and schemes a lot.

Still those good ones dont look very good to me from an athletical and technical perspective.

Deion, Revis, Darrell Green, the Woodson's, Mel Blount. Not a CB but Ed Reed is probably my favorite secondary player of all time.

For Cowboys - Deion, Newman (was better than average), Walls. .. Honorable mention - Jourdon Lewis. Whenever he was out while here the secondary has sucked. Underrated IMO.

Loved Scandrick.
Adding Anthony Henry, T. New, D. Carr and B. Jones.

Wow, this century?

Career or single season?

As far as career goes, I wasn't particularly fond of any of them. A few guys had some really good seasons, but nothing consistent throughout a career.

I liked Terrence Newman but I would have liked him much better if he knew how to take the ball away.
