Well, the team needs more looks at some players some of whom are at risk to be cut and others who are looking for a better roster spot while others need to just play.

Need the snaps:

1. Lewis
2. Cheeto
3. Collins although they will likely use him at most 1-2 series if that
4. Switzer
5. Cooper
6. Moore
7. Rush-expect a reverse of snaps for this game between Moore and Rush
10. Neal
11. Tapper
12. Paea

At risk but has a chance:

1. Neal is here but I think he makes the team already; a good game with more snaps helps this a lot
2. Thonrton is at risk because of the numbers and Neal's play; helps that Neal can line up as a 5, 1, 3
3. Cleary might make it as the ninth because Green is so fragile.
4. Looney is at risk even as the backup C; we have a reasonably versatile OL but Looney IS a C
5. Edwards and Looney are part of the OL equation. Bell will have to really shine.
6. So many here I'm just going to put WR6 out there. If Gaithers goes to IR then WR and LB come into play
7. Nzeocha and Wacha (the Cha Cha brothers) need to play well-one likely makes it
8. Louis LB
9. Hamilton WR

Oh, yeah. Gives us an extra game just to watch.

Thornton is not at risk. Paea has been dealing with a knee issue so they can't rely on him with rookies as backups.

I just pray that some of these rookies actually play. I have to question Garrett's competency if he really wants to go into the season without the majority of our incoming draft class playing any meaningful snaps before the games count for real.

I understand being cautious about injury, but it's borderline ridiculous with how conservative they're becoming

Oh, so tell us exactly the extent of their injuries, since Jason is lying to us. Please elaborate so we can know exactly what extent of an injury (or non-injury) each of them had and when they should have returned.

But you have Neal. I think he sticks but could easily be wrong.

Tapper
Taco
Mayowa
Lawrence
Crawford
Paea
Neal
Collins

That's 8. You might add 1-2 more. Or not. No Irving or D Moore in there. 2 QB and 3 TE gives you 2 more. Might go 7 LB. Not counting suspensions yet.

S 4
CB 5
LB 8

That's 25 and about it.

Half of the guys I'm talking about, have themselves said that they could have played in the last couple preseason games. But the coaching staff wanted to let them rest. You can do your own research on that.

And I don't recall ever mentioning Jaylon Smith, but nice try there internet tough guy. Good day to you, sir.

Any player worth his salt is going to say that. That's why medical personnel overrule what players want in the coaches' eyes 99 times out of 100. It's frustrating because work is important, but the most important ability is availability. Coaches aren't going to jeopardize that in preseason if a player is nursing an injury.

having a 5th game is great. band wagon or casual fans dont understand its usefulness, but real fans who like the nuts and bolts of the game appreciate it.

Oh, yeah. Gives us an extra game just to watch.

Neal (6', 280) is not a 1tech. They like length at SDE (5tech) so he's not much of an option there either.

Thorton is a legit backup 1tech.

Agree 9 OL possible. Cooper and Green both have significant injury histories. I think Bell is the best option at backup OT after Green. Cleary struggled at LT against 2nd/3rd string players but looked good at RT. Bell can play 4 positions.

Looney is likely safe because Cooper is an injury risk player as the backup Center.

I don't see Edwards as an option at OT. Sloppy body and technique. He would be OK at OG but that's probably not enough to keep him.

They've probably already decided on WR 6 or not. If they're keeping N.Brown then more snaps will help get him ready. They love blocking WRs (Dwayne Harris types) and Brown was the best college blocking WR that I've seen.

Gathers has to be on the initial 53 then moved to IR if they want the option for him to return (i.e. It does not save a spot on the initial cut).

Wacha was cut a week or two ago.

Jones has been the best of the unknown LBs.

Lewis won't play.

Cooper has probably played the most snaps of anyone this preseason.

Paea is a veteran and knows the scheme. He probably won't play.

DE Moore has played a lot and QB Moore is what he is at this point. I would give Rush all the snaps.

Not sure about Tapper's injury status. He needs as many snaps as possible.

Game 1 DL:
Taco
Mayowa
Dlaw
Collins
Paea
Thornon if healthy

Crawford ? Injury status
Tapper ? Injury status

Neal may get a spot by default if Crawford and/or Thorton out.

Not sure what happens if both Crawford and Tapper out. Then it's either #56 or a cut from another team. They put in a claim on Ealy but didn't get him.

I think it is more important to set football aside this week and let the Texan's players focus on their real world emergency that they and their families as facing at the moment. This last preseason game never was of much importance but now it matters even less.

I will watch about the 1st half, switching over to watch the Ohio State game too. But will DVR both.
Normally I would watch it all, but had committed to take a road trip with my son before checking the game dates. LOL.

Actually it is about the best time for us to get on the road for timing and the days he has off of work.
Hopefully I can get decent internet access where we will be at to see the cut downs and such.
My dad does not have internet, so will need to rely on my phone, unless the hotel we stay at has it. I need to check.

Will need to watch both games from laptop or iPad or phone, from DVR.
I also have sling box set up to watch stuff.

Yes things are more important, but also life must go on.
