Leonhard seems like a good bet. They like him. He reportedly likes Dallas. He is in line for a high profile promotion to DC, knows Schotty, and is in the interview process quickly.

This is not my list as I focused on creating a list from the suggestions by members in my previous thread.

More coaches may be added to the list as the Cowboys do more interviews or new potential candidates get mentioned regularly in the media.

If you think the next DC is a coach not on the list, feel free to write in your prediction in a post and at some point, the name(s) may be added to the poll list.

Update-1: I did not add coaches who are still under contract as HC or DC for NFL teams for the 2026-2027 season since they are not available at this time.

** The names are listed in alphabetical order based on first name!
I say give it to Sexy Rexy, this dude has been flapping his gums for I don't know how long dogging Cowboy coaches, allow him to take the job and let's sit back and watch this dude either turn this defense into a killing squad or fail to the point that nobody will ever hire this dude again as a football talking head.

I think it might be someone we never heard of. Or barely heard of.

from what i understand Aaron Whitecotton has had zero NFL experience as a DC in the NFL .. just DL coach.

i would think there'd be an urgent drive to acquire a DC with a proven resume and extensive experience ?

i picked Swartz as he's been a SB winning and well experenced DC (per Philly Eagles) and he runs a 4-3 scheme that emphasize rush pressure and man press coverage and that would seem to be a easier adjustment in an existing 4 man scheme than having to-learn a 3-4 scheme.

I read the question wrong. I thought you asked who we WANTED to be the DC, not who we think will me. :(

We'll get some BOZO I'm sure. WE already have our DC, his name is Jerry Jones.

you're obviously not thinking about the Cowboys, the deal for him to be DC will be announced soon lol

I voted for the cheapest option.

I voted for the most likely to not have their own opinion, keep quiet, and let coach Jerrah run things.

I voted for the least experienced at being a DC option.

I voted for, "We like our guys" option.

I actually have no clue. Jerry always does something stinky. If he can hire someone to make headlines, he will.

And don't forget, it's almost impossible to get any good coaches to come here due to the nature of this FUBAR organization. I seriously doubt if some hot commodity like Flores would even consider it. You're talking about a lateral move, don't forget. Why would he leave MINN for the same position? That wouldn't make sense.

He seems legit.

We gotta get it fixed.

The Carolina defense was embarrassed yesterday.

Anyone else recognize that defense at the end?
Don't need the fix w/ a DC, we need the fix w/ a major infusion of talent.

I like Leonhard but I don't expect it to happen--playoffs, Joseph, Payton, there are a lot of factors that could keep him in Denver.

I think we'll end up with a safe, predictable hire in Jonathon Gannon.
