I voted for Flores. Though Leonhard seems to be the favorite. And I would be ok with that. Only based on that many fans seem to like him.
I almost voted for Patricia, as that seems like a Jerry move.

Though many think the Jerry move is to promote from within. I can't see that this time.
What does Whitecotton have that the others do not. Would he be the same schemes as Eberflus.

I picked, as the poll requested, who i think will end up being our DC, not who I would want.

I think Al Harris will be, but I would way rather have Jim Leonhard over any other

This is not my list as I focused on creating a list from the suggestions by members in my previous thread.

More coaches may be added to the list as the Cowboys do more interviews or new potential candidates get mentioned regularly in the media.

If you think the next DC is a coach not on the list, feel free to write in your prediction in a post and at some point, the name(s) may be added to the poll list.

Update-1: I did not add coaches who are still under contract as HC or DC for NFL teams for the 2026-2027 season since they are not available at this time.

** The names are listed in alphabetical order based on first name!
Not going to read 5 pages of posts, but surely by now someone has pointed out that there are two official candidates who aren't even listed here. I get the odds wouldn't seem favorable, but that can be said for every other option on the list except maybe for Leonhard.

I created the poll using the suggestions from members in a pre-poll thread, not my own, which was clearly stated in the original post.

The point of this poll was to ask fans who they think the Cowboys will hire and they made their suggestions.

I also said if necessary I would add more names to the list, but in the meantime if a name was not listed to simply post your predicition in a post.

Next time I suggest reading at least the original post (it's just one post) and that might help you better understand the purpose of the thread.

Sorry to have presumed too much, my friend... but... well... did I really presume too much??? Connecting the dots... if more coaches may be added to the list as the Cowboys do more interviews... ummmm...???

If several members start posting the same name(s) I will gladly add them! :D

Didn't mean to offend with my original post, but rather just making an observation. When it seemed I offended, I only wanted to call attention to why it wasn't such a weird observation to make. Yes, you explained the criteria, but then my point would be that as you explained the criteria, you also (perhaps inadvertently) cracked open that door that justified my observation after all.

That's all. Have a last word if you'd like. Interest on my side of the internet is exhausted. Bigger picture, I do truly appreciate all you do to make this a decent place for discussion.

I was not offended, but it's common here for members to attack things I post when I rarely take a strong stance on anything non-site-related as I have no desire to convince anyone of anything.

In this case, I went out of my way to ask the members who they wanted in this poll in a previous thread just as I am doing for the second upcoming poll because I knew if I hand-picked the names myself then some members would likely complain about the names I chose.

So when you showed up and attacked the list I curated from the members as if I picked the names, you can understand why I pointed out why that was not accurate especially when I stated all of it in the first post of this thread.

If I could, I'd remove my vote for Leonhard. I don't think it happens for multiple reasons.

1. I think it's highly likely that Vance gets a HC gig and Leonhard is promoted to Denver's DC.

2. I am beginning to question whether Jerry has the patience — or more accurately, the mental fortitude — to wait for Denver to finish their season before choosing his next DC.

It's totally feasible, however — especially when you're talking about Jerry — to imagine he has Whitecotton in his back pocket, so to speak, and that if all other options fall through, there is still a guy in the building who Schotty trusted enough to bring over from New York to coach the D-Line. Yes, the D-Line relatively sucked last season as a group but it's my understanding that Whitecotton specializes not on Edges but interior guys, where they were at least somewhat competent.

Still, I think Leonard is probably ultimately promoted to DC in Denver, Flores accepts a HC job, and unless it's a dark horse candidate from another defense where the DC remains intact, it could very well be Whitecotton. I say this with absolutely no excitement.

I extend all invitations to convince me I'm out of my mind... PLEASE!

.......would it be safe to say; no one from that list. ;)..

This situation could take months.

Updated head coach vacancy trackers. I’ll drop it in a thread or two

It gets updated every day so there’s no need for its own thread

I was formerly an advocate of Al Harris as the Cowboys' DC. I've recently changed my mind, as it's now been revealed that he is more of a tactician than a technician as a DC possibility. In other words, he is good at directing defensive backs but not as capable at directing the defensive scheme to apply.

I've switched my preference to Leonhard lately as the guy that might best suit the Cowboys. Stay tuned. The question there is whether or not Jerry is likely to wait for Denver to drop out of their Super Bowl contentions. It seems that time will tell on the scenario to determine his ongoing possibilities.
