CZ POLL Who do you WANT to be the next Defensive Coordinator for the Cowboys?

This thread is for everyone to vote for who they WANT the Cowboys to hire as their new defensive coordinator.

I went through the pre-poll suggestions thread and pulled the names that were most often suggested.

I did not include people who have not been coaches or coaches that are currently in HC or DC positions and under contract for the 2026-2027 seasons (ex: Jim Schwartz, Robert Saleh).

** I will add more realistic/possible coaches as needed

** Unlike the prediction poll, this poll will be fluid meaning you can change your vote in this poll

** The initial list of coaches are listed in alphabetical order based on first names.

So, who do you WANT to be the new Defensive Coordinator for the Cowboys?

Its funny to follow how this works.

Media tells us how bad our backfield was in 2025 and now all options i have to chose from are coaches who were backfield coaches. Except maybe Flores who showed us by his complex zone scheme how bad our starter at QB really is.

And now Flores is wanted by the majority here. Why not want a better QB instead?

This is all so predictable. And you guys say the Joneses are bad at what they do? Look at you guys. Someone tells you our issue is the backfield and you follow them like lemmings. WTH.

I want a DC who is allowed to pick his own assistants and who is picked by my HC. And i want a DC whos known for his inside out approach. This game is won in the trenches. I want a DC who is known for his knowledge of how to build a dominating DL and great inside LBs. i want a DC who knows how to build a physical dominating front. Honestly the secondary (as much as i love Deion) becomes a hindsight after the QB got layed 4 times in his first 5 pass attempts and your RB gets nowehere.

I cant find that one on this list. Some has beens but none who attracts me. Help me out if im missing something.

Flores and Harris get production wherever they coach.

I do like Leonard, and he was a productive NFL DB despite being 5’8 and a limited athlete - because he is a good defensive mind. So I’d be happy with him too.

I am not interested in the retreads. Belichick needs to retire. Patricia is a jerk who many players don’t like. If we’re going with a retread Rex Ryan would be entertaining at least.

He might be on this poll,

but I believe it would be a mistake because regardless of what people say about him being hired as a head coach somewhere if it's not this year to be next year and why would you want another one and done DC?/

I'd like one of the other younger ones that want to stay here at least three years if given the chance I prefer a longer term guy...

Leonhard or Jones best choices for I feel the team needs and the fans need is some consistency... I mean isn't Jones the next best thing isn't he under Flores?

I think those two guys would be much hungrier IMHO stay longer with something to prove..
