Dallas would probably stand the best chance against New York, now that Jacobs has a gimpy ankle and Shockey is out for the season...NY sports the lowest ranked offense of the NFC playoff teams...
Jason Campbell "could" return for the divisional game and we know how effective he was last time Washington came to town...i like the Cowboys' chances better with Collins behind center though...
Bottom line...Dallas knows these teams...so there will be little if any element of surprise...
Beyond that...Garcia and the Bucs are a concern because he killed the Cowboys season last year...they have some older veterans on defense but can still play well when they need to...they are the third best offense in the NFC playoff race...
Seattle would probably be the toughest matchup because of their defense...if they can ever find the running game then they become a dangerous team...however, they are a league average offense right now.
New York
Washington
Tampa Bay
Seattle
The concern now is whether or not the receiving corp can make it back in three weeks...Dallas would need either Owens or Glenn to make it past the championship game...my hope is that they'll have the services of both...
If these guys can return to form in three weeks then Dallas would have to be considered the hands-down favorite to represent the NFC in the superbowl...
Another little tidbit to chew on is this...Dallas' redzone defense is going to be the only thing that matters in the end...yards don't win games, as Carolina found out and the Colts demonstrated last year...given the offensive outburst of Philly versus New Orleans, i'd say Dallas stuffed them pretty well, even in the loss...the "Cowboy" defense of Spencer, Ellis and Ware, will be a pivotal part of the pressure packages in the playoffs...when Dallas needed the stop against Detroit, it was this personnel package that made it happen...
The biggest beneficiary of the Green Bay "cold as hell-can't get off the blocks" meltdown will be the Dallas secondary...Williams should return hopefully a wiser man...the defense missed his presence in the run game...three weeks of rest for Newman should put him right again but he should see at least a half of action versus Washington to keep some of his football speed...you walk a fine line with a three week layoff...i expect all who are healthy to play next sunday for an extended period of time...
This week proved ugly for even the Patriots, who had four turnovers in a par performance against a toothless Miami, who were probably still punch-drunk from their first win of the season a week ago...Indianapolis was the only one of the BIG FOUR that looked post-season ready today.
