These contract signing's are sick. A scrub is making what Troy Aikman's monster contract was in the 90s. This is what ruins sports. It happened in baseball, basketball, and hockey that lead them all to work stoppages. I always thought football was the best with the early cap. The good players got paid and the scrubs got minmums. That Kelly guy from then Raiders, he would of got probably only a million bucks a year in the mid 90's. I hope the NFL isnt going down that path like other sports. I have a solution.

No player can make more than 8 million per season[includes bonuses] and can only have one of them on your roster. Fair. No player can make less than 700 k a year. The cap is at 70 million and doesnt move. On the other end, the owners can only make so much money as well, like a 50-50 split between owners and players. Then, the rest of it goes to the retirement of these players and charity. Only in a perfect world.

It's the nature of the beast in these high profile professional sports.

We're the ones who pay for it in higher ticket, parking, product, etc... costs.

The players have a union to protect them and look out for them. We've got...

congress :lmao2:

You had to know this was coming when free agency started. Imagine an upcapped league in a couple of years.

Players aren't making too much money. I don't care what profession you're in your value is based on what someone else is willing to pay you. I have no problem with these players making as much as they can. As long as the cap continues to increase so will players salaries. It's the way of the world.

Hey, whatever happened to "BolshevikPackFan"? He used to frequent several of the boards a number of years ago and I'm sure he would have something to say on this subject.

Anyone else remember that guy?

Yes, the players ARE making too much money, they have been for a long time now. Sports and entertainment make WAY too much money but that's where we are willing to invest our lives so...

There starting to make to much money? They have been for a long time. You also have to consider that Al Davis is a complete moron.

I have always felt players are making too much cash, however, I don't blame them one bit for cashing in on the system.

If you want the players to make less, it's simple, spend less and watch less. The salary cap is based on revenue the NFL makes, so if you want to lower salaries, lower the cap. You lower the cap by spending less. As teams try to fit a full 53 man roster under a shrinking cap, players will have to get less. It's our fault they make what they do.

Besides, isn't this what capitalism is about? If you want players to play (or work) for "the love of the game" or "faithfulness to the team" then you undermine the economic system. They deserve the chance to try to make the most money they can because I try to, and just about everybody else.

Have you seen Earl Cambell? The guy can't even walk now, it's a brutal game. The market dictates their value and if they can get it more power to them.
I will say, that there is one game I do boycott and that's baseball the league is to screwed up. You have one team with a payroll of 200 mil and another with 40 mil and they call it a level playing field.
I won't support it on numerous reasons Screw-em

I have no problem with players getting their share of the pie.

I do think the overall pie is too big, though. The game has priced itself beyond the average fan. Tax payers are subsidizing sweetheart stadium deals. And so on....

Then by this reasoning a a military servicemember should be making millions of dollars a year.

I think all contracts should be heavily incentive based. You don't preform you don't get nearly as much.

Look at pro golfers. If they don't make the cut then they just played 2 days for free (minus all their millions in endorsements).

The money is getting crazy but like I have said many times it's the rookies that are the craziest. A rookie that hasn't proven anything in the nfl should not be making more than a vet. The NFL needs a rookie salary cap big time.

Its what the business is worth.

If your apart of this business than you have the right to reap its benefits.

The players do make to much but the money has to go somewhere so I have no problem with it.

It's all relative. When Ruben Sierra demanded $5M a year from the Rangers I was flabbergasted! I believe that was around the late 80s early 90s. Now you have A-Rod signing a $300M contract.

$300M. Very Brewster's Millions :D

Whatever players can make is what they deserve.

This is a big business and players are the ones who are what everyone pays to see.

the players are the product. Nobody ever spent a nickle to watch, Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder, or Al Davis run into each other.

I think athletes and entertainers get paid way too much however I don't fault them but then I don't want to hear them whine and complain about more money. I think it is a joke when these people go on strike looking for more. I think they are more than compensated for what they do.
