probably won't catch Gonzalez as he is only 33 and is still playing at a very high level... but Gonzo is going to go down as the best TE to ever play the game. Witten's #s are unreal for his age two or three more years and he's a HOF lock.

Witten came in the league super-young - like 21. He also started playing at a very high level in his second year with Vinnie at QB. It is hard to say where he'll end up but he looks like a lock for 75-100 catches/year. Five years at 80 catches per would put him at 917 in striking distance of where Gonzo is right now. All those numbers depend on injury, of course.

Man Witten is sick. I remember wanting to draft him big time when he came out. He got stuck @ WR his JR year at Tennessee and was obviously a TE. When we picked him I was beyond happy and this fortunately was one thing I was correct about.

Of course, at 28 Gonzo really broke out. He averaged 67 catches a year through 27, but since then has averaged 88 per season. So the "pace" comparison likely won't be as favorable in future years as it is a higher bar to keep up with
