... this team could be dramatically better than this next year.

Some people put all the blame on Parcells, some put it all on the players. I don't think it's all any one person's fault, but I do think that just as with the Saints and the Jets and the Rams, this team could look tons better with only a new coaching staff... As long as it's a good one, of course.

Or, do you think that Parcells is maxing out the talent he has and the players are just no good?

Thoughts?

Better? Yes, but I dont know about signifigantly

Part of this meltdown is on the players. The coaches dont fumble the ball, they dont commit stupid penalties, and they don't blow assingments in coverage. Our players are just underachieving to a large degree.

better coach and staff will equal better results

this has been a pathetic coaching job this year...

with the talent and health of the team, a 9-7 record and the results we've seen this past month just dont make sense

A new coach can't bring out talent that's not there but a good one can put his players in a position to maximize the talent they have.

Yes! a new and inventive coaching staff would do wonders with the talent we have amassed here! A DC with an attacking defense instead of read and react a solid draft and a new dominating o-line and the sky is the limit.

we are a new coaching staff away from a SUPER BOWL team!!!!

BP thanks for the upgrade in talent, now go away. Thanks!!!:starspin

With a new coaching staff comes a new system. That said, with the right coaches in place this team could really live up to their potential in 2-3 years after they've mastered another system. They need fiery motivators. Not just at the HC position... at the assistant coaching spots..the whole freaking staff. They need to give a fiery HC a chance to come in and bring his own staff with him. Think long and hard Jerry. No more Campo promotions.

I think a new coach and staff could be what this squad may need. It worked for the Bucs when Dungy left. I like Coach Dungy too but the Bucs needed fresh ideas and playcalling just like I think the 'Boys do.

I think the players have lost faith in the scheme since the NO game. They are still in shock from being utterly exposed. Either that or they have a voodoo curse on them. Someone should bring in a witch doctor to exorcise the evil voodoo curse.
Personally, I prefer an aggressive scheme with a fire spitting DC who is allowed to run his scheme (not micro-manged by Bill).

well, the Saints and Jets were two of the worst teams in football last yr and appeared to have rosters that were light years away from being competitive, yet both teams won 10 games this yr and both teams are headed to the playoffs...they went from having the 2nd and 4th picks overall to being pretty good teams

it shows you 1) what good coaching can do and 2) what kind of league we're in now in that quick turn arounds are clearly possible

this Cowboy team has more talent than either of those teams had last yr, so expecting good results with a good, innovative staff isnt that crazy a thought

I think the team would look better with a new staff.

Has Parcells maxed the talent???? Good question.

I certainly hope not.

I do believe strongly however, that Whether we change coaching personel or we dump the 3/4 we will again need to draft or sign a few different players for either D scheme.

Our LBs, maybe both safties, and a CB are have problems covering.

Our Mlb is having all kind of problems ..... we may need a change there.

Whether Ellis returns or not we need one more stud pass rusher to compliment Ware.

The OL is better but it still needs upgrading..

I think in this day and age theres enough evidence to suggest that a new staff can help in a new year.

Course dont be surprsied if you tank again if not following year, shortly thereafter because theres just as much evidence of that happening too.

You make good points. It's going to get interesting. That's for sure.

People also forget that our NFC East foes have been decimated by injuries sporactically throughout the season and the Cowboys have been relatively healthy.

That fact alone, makes this alot harder to understand.

Why is it that Andy Reid can get his team inspired to play as hard more often than not. They believe in themselves, the coaches and the system, that's why. Reid also makes sure they stay focused and motivated.

CL, I think it's definitely time to shake up the defensive philosophy. It's not important whether it's 3-4 or 4-3, but defensively we lack the speed to be truly competitive...our scheme has to mask that til we get a bit more speed, and the coaches are failing on that end.

I'd like to see Bill here for one year, but not if read-react, bend don't break (I know it's all cliches, but it's also painstakingly clear a 'shake-up' is in order) trumps the kind of creativity Mangini (among others) seems to be able to employ immediately in a base 3-4 to cover weaknesses.

If we lose next week because the defense crumbled, much as I love Bill, he needs to step down (because part of the problem seems to be his own lack of energy, at age 65, late in the season), OR become more of a executive overseer a la Gibbs and get more dynamic defensive coaching in here. Win or lose next week, he needs to do that.

One reason I want to see Bill stay for one more tho, is his part in the development of Tony. I'd like to see him continue that.

I love Bill.

But it might be time to admit his age, and retire.

If Peyton and Gary Gibbs had been the Cowboys HC and DC this year, we're in the Super Bowl.

well since i think our players are not being put in a position where they can best succeed then yes i think a different coaching staff would get these players to have a lot more success. A great scheme as well can make players look a lot better than they actually are. We need to bring in a defensive genious!

My opinion is that BP has done a horrible job coaching.

However, benefit of the doubt here makes things worse for Parcells. If Parcells IS maxing out the talent he has then he needs to be fired today.

This team just reminds me of that pre-Campo 1999 dog turd 8-8 playoff team. You just knew that was the end of the run. I hope I'm worng but I have no confidence in this team being a TRUE contender anytime in the near future. In hindsight Parcells drafts have not been that good and his free agent signings have been even worse. I'm not sure the future is very bright.
