Lane Johnson
Did you see the video showing all the snaps of Tyler Booker vs Jalen Carter?Had the crew and friends over last night for a 70th birthday party, and the questions were raised.
The career question came to consensus fairly quickly. Lane Johnson was the answer. Might be first ballot HoF.
But the current best player was a lively debate. I made my case for CDL. Here is a list of names that was tossed into the pile and discussed, with comments I recall:
CD--My homer pick. Consistent performer besides a few drops, he must be planned for by opposing DC's.
Dak--Regular season stats monster, very little post-season success
Hurts--Post-season beast, regular season meh
Lane Johnson--getting old but a healthy Lane is a brick wall that stones everyone
Jaydon Daniels--promising up and coming QB, needs to show his rookie season was no fluke
Bobby Wagner--just consistently very good all-around
Zach Baun--Showed how much of a mistake the Saints made not giving him a chance
Tyron Smith--Down year for a top five guard in the league
Quinyon Mitchell--Needs a few more years? He earned his 1st team AP selection
George Pickens--Clearly an incredible talent when given the chance to shine, but does take off on occasion
Jordan Mailata--One of the best LT's in the game, will give up the occasional pressure to a small speed rusher-type player that can duck under his massive frame.
Brian Burns--D-line beast that can change a game.
Jaxson Dart--Next best QB in the NFCE?
Malik Nabors--Might be the most skilled WR but needs to stay healthy
Opinions? No consensus pick was chosen.

Of course, the love of your life. How embarrassing.Dak and Aj Brown
Patrick Mahomes by the time he was 27 had 2 rings and had been to a third SB.“regular season meh”? Name a CURRENT head coach/quarterback combination with more regular season wins than Sirianni/Hurts.
How many quarterbacks in the history of the NFL put together a resume like Jalen Hurts at 27 years old? Regular season or post season.
The list has to be longer than just Patrick Mahomes. I meant in the history of the NFL.Patrick Mahomes by the time he was 27 had 2 rings and had been to a third SB.
so really you need to step away from Eagle Homer land
Thanks! But it wasn’t mine, I hosted a surprise party for one of our fantasy league mates. I took a few guys out on my boat down to Marco Island and back. While I was gone with the birthday guy, the party was set up by wives and the rest of the crew. I already hit 70…now you know I’ve been suffering since our last Super Bowl, lol!Congrats on the 70th birthday!
Wouldn’t mind having Mailata and Smith together on our left side.Did you see the video showing all the snaps of Tyler Booker vs Jalen Carter?
- Many of those snaps looked like Larry Allen reincarnated.
Lane Johnson and Bobby Wagnerr are the 2 that could retire tomorrow and still get into the Hall of Fame.
If all the non-QBs on your list were available in a "veteran draft", the top 3 would be CeeDee, Tyler Smith and Jordan Mailata.
Brady and Aikman has two rings/SB appearances by age 27, but off the top of my head I can’t think of anyone else. The list has to be longer than just Patrick Mahomes. I meant in the history of the NFL.
Wish we had Scary Terry - we’d be unbeatable.Had the crew and friends over last night for a 70th birthday party, and the questions were raised.

So the names, so far, are Mahomes, Brady, Aikman. I guess the hope is Hurts doesn’t improve. Because the list of Hall of Fame quarterbacks that had their most successful seasons after age 27 is long one.Brady and Aikman has two rings/SB appearances by age 27, but off the top of my head I can’t think of anyone else.
How big is the list of QBs that had their most success after age 33?So the names, so far, are Mahomes, Brady, Aikman. I guess the hope is Hurts doesn’t improve. Because the list of Hall of Fame quarterbacks that had their most successful seasons after age 27 is long one.
Put that on the Cowboys fans’ wishful thinking list, which is also a long one.
Carter has the best spit velocity, range, and tenacity of sputum. That has to count for something.I don’t agree with the response I’ll say, but I literally just saw this question on reddit in a general NFL forum about the best player in each division, and fans of other teams immediately brought up Jalen Carter as the person who should have been on there. I don’t think he’s even the best eagle but it was interesting you didn’t list him amongst your personal options
Good point. I’m afraid to do the research. How big is the list of QBs that had their most success after age 33?
Yeah.Good point. I’m afraid to do the research.
Yup......a QB that balls out on the biggest stages will always get the shine.Say what you want, but he has a super bowl ring and was the MVP.
No one else on your list can boast that.
He wouldn't be my pick going forward though.
