We all know here that writers, media, and fans call certain players overrated. Who do you guys think is the most overrated writer/sports analyst?

All of them. They all have agenda's they push and the masses are too dumb to know they're getting duped. That's why you have ignorant posters here saying Romo sucks. They heard it on ESPN.

Overrated writer?

Probably the entire Dead-spin crew. Granted some of their work is downright fantastic, but there seems to be an opinion of many people that they can do no wrong and are always right. Furthermore, people seem to think that in some sense, they 'take the high road' compared to other sports writers. But, they are the same guys that act with the same childish and unprofessional behavior when they don't get their way. When they get snubbed by an athlete or another sports writer, they hold a grudge until they get their way.

I can stomach Dead-spin over most everything else, but that's not setting the bar that high.

Analyst?

Ron Jaworski.

He's become a joke and is now more style over substance. He's become fully ESPN-ized and has become a caricature of himself and it's hard to take him seriously with so many asinine opinions and questionable analysis. He now relies on his early days at ESPN where he struggled to get TV time, but was an excellent analyst; to help his reputation.

Announcer?

Johnny Miller.

He's horrendous. If you know anything about golf and the golf swing, he essentially is speaking gibberish out there, 90% of the time.

Good stuff YR and with Jaworski and while yes he was a QB, and a pretty good one at that it seems to many people take his analysis of QBs on ESPN as gospel and as for Johnny Miller don't know too much about him lol.

It is a tough debate between Goose and JJT - I honestly forgot about JJT because over the years I've learned to avoid his contributions.

lol, learned to avoid his contributions... that was nicely put.

I will have to remember that when I want to be as polite as possible when I'm saying I don't read someone's stuff.

Well done J.

Goose was my first thought... but I would probably have to say JJT.

I'm not fond of his holier-than-thou, smart *** writing style. It isn't very difficult to sit there and think up snide remarks about players and coaches who, although they do have the platform, they have neither the time nor the inclination to defend themselves. JJT is the king of the armchair quarterbacks.

He has made many a formidable decision with the benefit of hindsight.

For me it boils down to this: If you aren't with us you're against us... and JJT certainly doesn't seem to have even the slightest bit of positive thought when it comes to the Cowboys. If all you ever do is chastise and tear down the Cowboys, I'm not going to enjoy reading your stuff. It's as simple as that.

He'll bring you wings on special occasions.

Stephen A. Smith is also one of the most well-connected and respected sports media personalities. When he talks basketball people should listen. The NFL stuff with Skip is just ratings fodder.

I hate to say it, and everyone knows Stephen A. hates the Cowboys, but he is usually right. He's much smarter than many give him credit for and he's miles ahead of Skip. Skip is one of those Cowboys fans you wish wasn't a fan. Stephen A. gives the Cowboys a hard time for ratings but there's a lot of truth in what he says..

He has a TV persona. But the man is very, very connected.

I can't stand J.Dukes, Cris Carter or Marshall faulk..They hate the Cowboys and when they open their mouth stupidity comes out. Their argument doesn't hold water. They just hate us and is blatantly obvious.........

Marshall Faulk cashing a check as an analyst is enough for me to put him on the list

It's Jim Rome -- no relation to Jerry Rhome.

But you're right, he has turned into another mediot. I guess they all eventually drink the ratings potion, and succumb to BS in order to increase their audience. It' kill or be killed out there, man.

Not to nitpick but Romes been doing the same show/schtick since i started listening to him in the late 90s. I get why people dont like him tho. I find him amusing sometimes, and he.s a pretty good interviewer

Watkins is stealing money from ESPN. His work is just flat out terrible. He doesn't take any time to gather information or educate himself on some of the topics he writes about.
A perfect example would be his draft coverage and draft grades on players. I don't even watch college football and i realized how far off base he was with those articles.
His most recent article suggesting we should cut Orton was another example of his lack of understanding. I can go on and on about him but the bottom line is he does t deserve the position he is in.

Mickey Spagnola.......

That is my choice. He is just a Cowboy homer with a pen. He defends anything and everything Dallas Cowboys no matter what like some posters on this forum. Common sense is lost on him.

I don't know about overrated but I have always thought Skip Bayless is awful.

He is a good writer but to insinuate that Troy was gay in one of his books was just wrong.

Troy was ready to beat him to a pulp. Just wrong to spread that kind of rumor.

I thought he was Skip Baseless.
