I don't even think it's really a discussion. It's Carpenter. Every other first pick we made in the decade gave us some sort of ROI.

I'm going with Roy Williams.

Sure he was good his first few years, but the guy was a top 10 pick and should still be a cornerstone player. Instead he turned into a huge liability and has subsequently forced the Cowboys to still to be in search of a good safety. He's the reason why Ken Hamlin was paid Pro Bowl dollars and why we'll over pay Sensabaugh or be going to the well in the draft again. That goes without mentioning the second contract he got, but that's more on the GM.

If " Quinthy " is at the top of the list, he ain't alone since he was a 2nd round draft pick. The Cowboys, unfortunately, have a plethora of 2nd round busts in the decade.

That title belongs to a #1 pick and, thank goodness, that THE biggest #1 pick bust is " Barbie " Carpenter.

Thank goodness = it could have been MUCH MUCH worse, considering the franchise has had TWO top 10 picks ( and a possible 3rd if they hadn't trade it for Joey Galloway )..

carpenter will never live up to his 1st round draft status, that is true.

but he's still here and still playing.

carter can't even win in a farm league now can he?

again, the title is "draft bust of the decade" and just because fans put far too much emphasis on the FIRST round doesn't mean that's the ONLY place a bust can come from.
