i'd not put carp that high up on the list.

i don't think he was touted that high, i think parcells put him up there for his own familiarity.

thats making carpenter pay for a stupid parcells pick.

That's simply not true. Almost everyone had Carpenter in the mid to late 1st round.

He was an insanely productive player in college, it just so happens that that was because Hawk was getting most of the attention.

that's just crazy talk.

bust has to be who i hate now. you and logic need to go play way over there and leave me alone cause you're just wrong and we spent a 1st round on someone who's not HOF bound, so he sucks.

you need to talk in extremes or hush. : )

:laugh2: How have you been old friend?

It's funny how many are picking Quincy Carter as the biggest Cowboys draft bust of this decade when no one thought he would turn out to be a good player anyway. :lmao: If anything he exceeded most everyones expectations. The fact that he contributed to 10 wins in one season and led the team to the playoffs puts him ahead of several players drafted this decade. Barbie Carpenter was the 18th pick in the first round who everyone thought would be a great player. The expectations with him were alot higher than what they were with Quincy Carter who was the 53rd player taken in 01. To be honest I hadn't even heard of Quincy Carter when we drafted him. Even Mel Kiper had to flip through his draft guide to find some info on him. LOL Most draft experts had a 4th round grade on QC. He was a REACH in the 2nd round because Jerry Jones saw Donovan McNabb in QC so maybe in Jerry's eyes QC was the biggest Cowboys bust of this decade. :lmao2: Now if this thread read "Dumbest Cowboys pick of this decade" QC would definitely top that list and rightly so.

Naw..naw..naw but honestly i've known people who did cocaine just to feel normal. I'm not speaking on weed. Weed is more recreational. But something as strong as cocaine? Anyone that attempts that has inner demons and is looking for acceptance.

Seriously how many Cowboys fans out there got excited on draft day 2001 when Quincy Carters name was announced as the Cowboys pick? LOL I had to talk my dad off a ledge when his name was called. :lmao: A huge bust is a player who was highly touted and you thought the day you drafted them that you drafted a cornerstone for your team for the next decade. Carpenter has been one of the worst first round picks the Cowboys ever drafted. He may be an even bigger flop than Rod Hill who was taken back in the early 80's. Billy Cannon Jr had a neck injury that's why he didn't pan out but Carpenter is hands down the biggest bust of this decade because he was drafted with the 18th pick and has made virtually no impact. He didn't even make the game day roster in several games his rookie year. That NEVER happens with your first round pick.

Pretty much the entire 2001 draft class

Quincy Carter QB
Tony Dixon DB
Willie Blade DT
Markus Steele OLB
Matt Lehr C
Daleroy Stewart DT
Colston Weatherington DE
John Nix DT
Char-ron Dorsey T

Lehr did have some flexibility and couple play multiple positions, but for the most part that whole class went nowhere.

Quincy contributed more in his time here than many 1st round QBs who bust out of league. For biggest busts, how about Skyler Green and Stanbust? 4th round picks, but complete wastes, both of them.

I said, if someone wants to make that case they can. I consider Rod Hill to be the biggest all time bust in Cowboys History. That is me personally.

Got it..

Goodrich was this decade, right? Hard not to go with him.

A pretty high pick that literally contributed nothing -- ever -- on the field, and winded up in jail to boot.

I like Carpenter as a person, from what I see. By all accounts his effort is there, he's just not very good.

But he's been good enough to hang on for four years, and get some playing time on ST and in defensive packages. No doubt, that's a huge bust for a first round pick, but comparing it to Rogers who lasted, what, two seasons? Was kicked off the team for being soft and argumentative after delivering absolutely nothing? Rogers was a huge draft day mistake. There's no fair comparison between the two players and the only reason it seems like there is is that Bobby's been just good enough to hang around the roster for people to complain about longer.

Exactly, no way could I pick anyone over Rogers or Goodrich.

Yep, everyone knew Jerry Jones had nearly broken his back reaching for Quincy Carter in the 2nd Round.

Jerry Jones did his best to downplay the massive reach by claiming Quincy Carter had rare talent :D .

I just still shake my head at Jerry Jones reaching for him, deciding to start him his rookie season after a decent Pre-Season when Quincy Carter entered the NFL in the Substance Abuse Program  .
