In the Nickel...
There are a lot of options that we can do with the personnel that we're starting to accumulate.
Let's say that we draft Lawson to play SOLB opposite Ware. If that's the case, then when:
It is a sure passing down like say 3rd and 15 then we could move Spears and Canty inside to DT and bring Ware and Lawson up to DE. Then, we could have Burnett playing the LB spot for the nickel (he's very good in coverage).
That would be one option and it would create a lot of problems for the offense.
You could also keep in Fergy and bring in Pepper at the two DT positions and play Ware and Ellis at DE along with Burnett at LB. This would constitute a much bigger lineup than the first one that I mentioned and would play better against the run.
Of course there are any number of options that you could put the personnel together, depending on the situation and the opponent.
The one main thing is the SOLB. We really need a better player there than what we had last year and a stud there (Lawson, Carpenter) would go a long way towards making the Dallas D a dominant force.
