I don't think Pat McQuistan's job has ever been in jeopardy.dcfanatic;2217653 said:Holland.
Either Berger or McQuistan is getting axed on the final cut.
I think they were giving McQ this opportunity to start against the Vikings to save his roster spot because they were disappointed in him as a backup Right Tackle.
Marten is the backup Right Guard (and can of course play Tackle in a pinch) and Doug Free will be the swing Tackle.
James Marten was drafted as a tackle, utterly unimpressive there going by reports, switched to guard this camp where he was third string behind Joe Berger, and is now back at right tackle tonight because we want to look at Pat McQuistan, Berger and Cory Procter.dcfanatic;2217653 said:Marten is the backup Right Guard (and can of course play Tackle in a pinch) and Doug Free will be the swing Tackle.

This guy has been almost comically unimpressive since we blew a 3rd rounder on him (a high 3rd rounder too), yet it seems like nobody cares enough about him to talk about him/slam him.
I have read zero positive reports on Marten since we drafted him. Zero. He was such a bum at OT that they moved him to guard, and lo and behold, it turns out he wasn't even one of our top 5 guards! Davis, Kosier, Berger, McQuistan, and Procter (and now Holland!) are all ahead of him at that spot, so back to OT it is for Marten.
Seriously, what are we waiting for? Cut the bum and erase this horrendous waste of a 3rd round pick from our memories, please.

Pat McQuistan starts and keeps the job, imo. Vela called McQuistan before anyone, and he is sticking to it. I agree with him.
He and Davis would be two wild and crazy guards.parcells316;2217662 said:I'll go out on a limb and say it won't be James Marten. Steve Martin has a better shot at starting than him.

Understand Berger got some snaps at C 2-3 weeks ago. Berger performed better then Marten but hate to give up on Marten so soon. Believe McQuistan wins LG job until Kosier returns but maybe Holland is coming as insurance but also future replacement for Kosier.
