I thought they should have made the trade for Lynch and still take Dak in the 4th.

Also saying they liked Goff is one thing, drafting him is another. The team did their due diligence on every top player, you never now how the draft will break. But saying you will take Goff at 4 because the others you like are gone is different than saying you think Dak is a 2nd round pick but you think you can get him the 4th - and you are happy when the cards fall that way.

This could have easily went down this way absent Collins/Jaylon on the team. No one could criticize JJ for not covering his bases @ QB and would've loved it. Let em battle it out when Romo decides to hang it up in a season or two. They were solid picks on D too (not so sure about Jaylon due to the obv.) but Thornton/Crawford/Irving would've sufficed I would think.

I wanted to completely surround the QB position after last year......I wanted to draft Goff or Wentz.......sign a guy like RGIII or McCoy for a year AND draft Dak in the 5th or 6th round.....I was getting nervous when Dak started moving up the mocks and was MVP of the Senior Bowl....

looks like we may have saved a top 5 pick and a few million on a veteran backup

As a Razorback fan, I've always been used to Dak tearing up the SEC. With a decent defense they held a number one spot for several weeks the year before last. He was their entire offense.

We would have won lasr year if we could make a chip shot FG. But yes he was a monster, Brandon Allen was too.

I was thinking he was going to be the 3rd round or early 4th. I was definitely glad he fell to the late 4th.

Its amazing, Dak not only looks like a 3rd year player and not a rookie, but he also looks like an above average starter entering his 3rd year. Yowsah.

seriously folks, did our coaches develop this guy? did he come from Miss St this polished? Someone on our team has done some serious work with him, its unbelivable that a rookie can come in here and look like this. your thoughts

The Seattle Seahawks for rejecting Dallas' offer to trade up to try to draft Lynch. LOL

The anointing oil is still in the cupboard.

Dak has room to develop, but no doubt he'll likely be starting that development from a solid, slightly advanced position.

Credit goes to whoever made the decision after missing out on Lynch of not jumping at Hackenberg, Kessler, Brissett, or Cook. ...but who knows. Maybe they'd be looking the same??

If he does well, I'll pretend I called it all along. If he bombs, I'll ridicule the pick for years. That's how this all works, right?

Divert your attention to me, folks. I shot-called it the whole way A LONG TIME AGO

IIRC, there wasn't a QB in the draft that the Boys did more homework on...despite the potential of trading up for Lynch, etc.

And while no one could have predicted his early success so far...I was among some that liked the pick. Kid carried his team overall in the toughest conference in college football, and did so, without some of the talent available to other SEC schools.

Yeah, really wanted us to get Allen in the draft, but looks like we might've picked the right one in the 4th. Lovin' Dak, so far. No complaints for a rookie switching systems.

I hate to overreact, and I'm not sure who's responsible for Dak Prescott, and I'm not saying he WILL be the future but this is what I've seen so far. I see a dominant QB. A QB who attacks ferociously every time he has the ball. He's constantly looking at single coverage and he gets the ball out quick. At this point, he's dominant. By the time the regular season gets here, he may not be dominant, I'm just telling you what I see now.

Great post. Right now you really can't point to a weakness with Dak other than inexperience - and even then he doesn't look inexperienced.

Preseason is vanilla defenses and easier gameplans for a young QB - but even then Dak has only made one mistake in two games with that INT that was called back. And he has showed every trait you look for in a QB.

I am very excited about Dak, probably as much as anyone on this board. I don't feel the need to tap the brakes. I am genuinely excited about what he might become.

On the other hand ..... he could have easily has two interceptions tonight which would have made his stats look a lot worse. Stats lie.

Even if he had the two picks it wouldn't have really change my perspective. The most impressive thing about him so far is how mature and confident he seems to be. He sees the field well for a rookie and he hasn't panicked under pressure so far.

He has made decent decisions with the ball. He was less protective of the ball tonight than the first outing. He needs to clean that up a little or it will eventually turn into real turnovers.

I am not sure he will have the same consistent success against top tier regular season defenses, but I also wouldn't bet against him either. He will suffer adversity but I have hope that when he does he will persevere and adapt accordingly. He has shown indications that he will, which is promising.

The Cowboys put a lot of effort into scouting him. They deserve a lot of credit for finding him. I am not sure why he was viewed as a late 4th round prospect but he is outplaying the higher drafted QBs currently. Hopefully he will continue to learn and improve.

Finally, I would use Dak as the #2 and see what happens. He will progress faster getting second team reps and valuable experience. Being the #2 will also force him to stay sharp and be ready every week because he could have to start at any time due to injury.

I would of really only held one of the two ints on dak though if he did , that being the int that was called back. The other that was dropped was more wr. That being said, you see those dropped ints all the time so I think that dropped int is a non-mention
