Who are these guys that you see such a remarkable difference?

There is just an overall trend towards tough guys who like to play the game. Team captains. Good decisions. Good football players.

Very hard to quantify NFL drafts, but I'll try to show you what I mean.

From 2011, there is T Smith, Bruce Carter, DeMarco Murray, Dwayne Harris. All no nonsense, good football players that there are no worries at all about. You could even add in David Arkin and Bill Nagy, although they have yet to really help the team (or are somewhere else in Nagy's case). Arkin and Nagy are no nonsense tough guys who give their all. Yes, Arkin hasn't gotten strong enough yet and might not... but that's why he went in the 4th.

No Skylar Green's or AOA's there. All hard workers who don't ever quit. Even Shaun Chapas was the RKG and loved by his teammates. Yeah, he got cut but most 7th rounders do. At least you could see what Garrett was looking at.

In 2012 Claiborne was the consensus best CB and Dallas needed CB help badly. Crawford is a hard working guy who loves the game and there were a number of teams that really liked him. He contributed quite a bit as a rookie and his needle is pointing up. There are innumerable 3rd round picks Dallas has made that make me cringe... Crawford was a very, very solid 3rd round pick and will help the team a lot going forward.

Wilber is a right kind of guy... unfortunately for him, he is the wrong kind of guy for Kiffin's scheme. No fault of his or Garrett's when the pick was made. He's a solid candidate for a 34 team and who knows, maybe he can play WDE for Kiffin. One thing we do know is the guy will work hard because that is the kind of player he is.

Matt Johnson is a very talented guy who couldn't get healthy last year. Very solid agility numbers and had a ton of int's. Like other Garrett picks, he is a great locker room guy who gives his all and was a team captain. If he fails it won't be because he isn't smart enough, or because he doesn't work hard enough, or because he isn't athletic enough... because he has all those things in spades. Frankly, I have very high hopes for him and think he will come out of this season as a starting safety for Dallas.

Danny Coale. Again, the guy is a hard working smart guy who has plenty of athleticism. Good hands and a ton of heart. In the 5th round, what more could you ask for? Another solid pick by the team that used to consistently disappoint past round 2.

McSurdy will never play for Kiffin but he is a really hard worker who will give his all. Will make the other's on the field practice harder because of how hard he goes. 7th round pick because of heart. That is a Garrett pick all the way.

Hannah was another "right kind of guy" pick but he has loads of talent that has to be coached up. Not like some of the other project picks Dallas used to make. This is a solid player with big upside and big effort.

This year you again see Garrett's fingerprints in the players they took. Team captain types who are smart, tough and love the game. Wilcox and Williams are 3rd rounders that look to be able to start by year 2 where as in times past, the third rounders were either going to boom or bust. Both guys this year will be able to play, there is no doubt in my mind. Guys like Kiper and Mayock agree. Dallas used to never get guys that solid in the third, particularly in what is considered a weak draft.

Escobar is another RKG, but his talent is obvious. Reports are that Miami almost traded back into round 1 to get him and it is only his 40 time that kept him out of the first. A very, very solid football player with great hands and great intangibles. Very little risk there.

Webb and Holloman both are guys that should make the team. Webb in particular was great value. I expected him to go in the 3rd.

This is getting too long, but it is just a feel that the last 3 drafts have had. Very solid. Very little risk. Tough guys who love the game and who will work their butts off.

If you can't see the difference, I don't know what to say beyond what I've already said. To me the difference is clear.

When was Sean Lee drafted? And when was Wade Phillips fired? I must have miss thed best player on defense last year as well, Anthony Spencer, being drafted by Jason Garrett as well... Sean Lissemore? Let's see... Wade just got himself J.J. Watts with the Texans, probably potentially one of the best DL in the game. Uh, sorry, but Dan Reeves called Wade one of the best personnel people in the game.

The whole argument is predicated on the fact that Wade was drafting offense here. He possessed nowhere near the influence on the direction of this offense than Jason garrett. That is why Felix Jones was drafted over Chris Johnson. Roy Williams was brought in by Jerry, after asking Jason and Houck was brought in as coach as opposed to Solari. How many of the busted OL did we make during that train wreck? I mean, I guess Wade was in control of the offense. If you want to credit JG for Smith, well congratulation for a number 9 draft pick that Wade was never afforded on probably the best OL in the game at that time. And Dez was essentially a sure-fire, but I guess he was the RKG Jason liked in football players, right...

Now, we got Jerry Jones over-riding Jason Garrett to get a Center to protect Tony Romo in the middle, because Garrett, the six years he was here, couldn't find decent protection.

I like story time. Can you tell us why we drafted Josh Thomas? I want to hear why we picked him over someone else. Oh oh oh can I get a story about why we hired DeCamillis too. I like stories.

I am interested in what was actually done not guesses as to what motivated the action.

I think that you missed my point regarding Dez but really there is no point in this. Once people are willing to make up stories and act like they are a certainty then there is no point in furthering the discussion. You will only hear or accept what you want to hear and accept. It is what it is.

Well, Josh Thomas was drafted in 2011, after Wade Phillips was fired, so it couldn't have been him. Again, when was Sean Lee drafted? I mean if you can tell us in your story time why Jason Garrett is drafting the players that can actually "play in the NFL", and 2008-2010 is an example of players that weren't, because they reflect Wade, though Wade was here in 2007 as well, and Sean Lee was supposedly an example of JG, yet Sean Lee was drafted in 2010, maybe I should take your opinion with a grain of salt about who is 'hearing what they want to hear"...

So JG essentially got two picks in the top 10, choosing pretty much consensus all-stars, Wade never being afforded that, and he's suddenly changing the roster for the better? You think Wade wanted Jacques Reeves and Anthony Henry as his CBs or Roy Williams as his safety? As far as Skylar Green's, have you seen our OL, outside of Smith? And now we have Frederik, who it is obviously clear Garrett did not want to draft down, meaning a Jerry move.
