Frederick and Witten are the leaders on offense but I can see why people would think/want Dak. He will be a captain soon if not this year.

Lee and a mystery on defense. Tyrone Crawford maybe? Scandrick has the time but hasn't always been the most mature player.

Bailey on ST.

The debate was whether Dak should be captain, or someone on o-line. Plus, I think there has to be two from defense.

It sounds like they talk so much about Jaylon's leadership, I won't be surprised if he gets it after this season.
Guess some confusion......Smith as in Jaylon

Any predictions? I saw this debated on Twitter yesterday.

Edit: I forgot Tony wasn't one last year, but Barry Church was.

Sean Lee
Travis Frederick (to whom Free passed the baton too)
Jason Witten
Tank Lawrence or Tyrone Crawford (not that either one of these guys deserve it, but being the veterans they'll catch votes by default)

Or at least, that's who I think will end up being the team-voted leaders.

Found this from an author who wrote a book on successful captains. He discusses Brady here, which made me compare him to Dak.

Love the idea of Dez as a captain, Coach. Was hoping someone would pencil him in as one :)

He's a leader on the sidelines, on the field, and has vastly matured. I think he would take it to heart and grow even more.

Last season:
Sean Lee
Jason Witten
Travis Frederick
Barry Church
Dan Bailey

Romo was out so that's understandable, but Dez had the 2nd biggest contract on the team after Romo and was not a Captain. That's disturbing.

Not out of the question. Dez has taken on a lot of leadership lately and is one the hardest workers out there.
Even if you bust arse on the field, you can't be considered one of the hardest workers if you don't show up to meetings/rehab on time. The rumor is that continues to be a problem.

I just think giving the C to Dez will help him mature even more. Whether he's late or not, one thing we should all be able to agree on is he is all about the team. I think giving him such a position within the locker room would be his impetus to step up and lead, further, by example, X. And players naturally gravitate to him.

Give it a shot, let's see how he does. :)

The players pick the captains.

For sure, that's why I said giving him the position within the locker room :) they need to pick Dez.

Some teams assign Captain by coaches, tho, at least that's been my understanding.
They can't pick Dez...he's a retardd.:). lol
