Tell yourself whatever else you want. Hardy is a 15-sack a year guy. Nobody close to that on this roster right now.

Right now Hardy is a zero sack guy.... After the first 4 games he became a nonfactor. Part of that could have been conditioning, lack of effort after it appeared the season was going no where, or it could have been something else mentally. Regardless Hardy is a player with issues and we along with most other teams have decided his talent level is no longer worth the risk.

I personally wanted Hardy back too, but after hearing about all the issues and poor example he was setting for younger dlinemen im perfectly ok letting him go. He produced 6 sacks last season ill take my chances without him. I wonder if he wasnt here and had more leadership if Gregory and Lawrence would be in the same position.

I don't think that player is currently on this team... But that 90's era Dallas defense was a lot more than Charles Haley, that was the #1 defense in the NFL... The names on defense changed a lot between the '92 Super Bowl and the '95 Super Bowl, but both of those teams had defenses that were stacked with talent at all positions... I'm just saying, you cant compare that era of the Cowboys to this era, it's apples and oranges in almost every aspect. We do have the great Sean Lee though...

So getting pressure while being double teamed, and letting DLawrence to not get doubled (2nd half of season he thrived because of this), means he was a non factor. Otay....

I understand your point. And I agree for the most part, but Hardy is a "special" kind of nut job. Maybe Garrett just dosent have the demeanor of Parcells or Johnson.. Or maybe Hardy just thinks he's above even the coaches rules.

I think you nailed it here. Garrett doesn't have the demeanor, or the ability to work with a real problem child like Hardy, the way Parcells and Johnson did.

I just think Haley and Lawrence were definitely crazy, yet they wanted to be part of the team and more importantly.. They wanted to win. (As evident by their multiple SBs)

They didn't win those Super Bowls by themselves, the quality if the teams and coaches they had played a huge part.

And let's be honest, today's world is totally different than 20-30 years ago. Social media has changed the way players behave.. Atleast most anyway.

Social media is a garbage excuse for cutting any player, and if Garrett made a big deal out of that, it's yet another strike against him, not Hardy.

Bottomline, I don't think Hardy would be on Jimmy Johnson team. It's well documented that Hardy came to meetings late and Johnson cut players for far less than that.

It's also "well documented" that Johnson had different sets of rules for different players, and the better players were treated differently.

Unlike other players who were "non factors" for the entire season? Everything else aside, Hardy was this team's best and most feared pass rusher. He drew the most double teams and attention from opposing offenses. The defensive coordinator not only said it, he gave the numbers that supported it. Anything else us baseless fan opinion due to not liking the guy as a person.

Part of that could have been conditioning, lack of effort after it appeared the season was going no where, or it could have been something else mentally.

Or it could have been the reason I stated above, one that Marinelli clearly showed was happening.

Regardless Hardy is a player with issues and we along with most other teams have decided his talent level is no longer worth the risk.

For better or worse.

I don't. I don't subscribe to the groupthink, 'Boogeyman' conspiracy theories where anything that went wrong - with anybody - is somehow 'Greg Hardy's fault'. Gregory and Lawrence's mistakes are their own, nobody else's. The 'Boogeyman' never failed any drug tests.

It's not the same NFL anymore. There's no Charles Haley in the whole league.

I would guess we probably don't have a HOF pass rusher on the roster, and most other teams don't either.

Just watched A Football Life...Charles Haley

Remember we had a really good offense in 1991 and lost a playoff game big to Detroit. We had no character on defense until George Seifert made the mistake of trading Charles Haley to the Dallas Cowboys. Everything changed when he got to Dallas. He brought an intensity and a winning attitude that permeated the entire team, offense as well as defense.

We now have a good offense but our defense is completely suspect and our pass rush is expected to be anemic. So Cowboys fans, who will become our Charles Haley? Who is going to give this defense the swagger they need to really compete for a SB. My guess is Randy Gregory if he can get his head screwed on correctly.

Rosenhaus is trying desperately to get him signed.

I'll go with Gregory. The guy just needs to stay healthy and once he starts getting his groove back he will have reason to fight those "demons" and mental issues he has. Sometimes it takes a string of positivity to get back on track. I believe this positivity is called wins and sacks

I getwhat you are saying, but Haley was also a bully and hard to deal with in the locker room. He pissed off his team mates, and made them perform. I don't think that will fly now.

Charles Haley has a mental condition called Bi-Polar. It was not treated while he played and it caused him great anguish and in certain instances almost demonic and self-destructive behavior. When he was good he was very good and when he was bad he would literally tear up the locker room. He threw a helmet at Jerry Jones after Dallas lost its first two games of the 1993 season without Emmitt Smith on the team as he was holding out for a new contract and almost decapitated him. Two days later, Jerry signed Emmitt. The rest as they say, is history. Two SBs in a row.

I keep hoping the Rico Gathers moves to the other side of the ball and tries to become a combination of Ed "Too Tall" Jones and Charles Haley. Dare to dream.
