Who would you have taken at 28?

McDowell all the way. Here's the thing: he did have some "motivational" issues at MSU but never had any off the field problems. We just took a kid in Lewis at CB who's been accused of assault by his ex Girlfriend, so I suppose Will and Rod liked Taco better than McDowell. I'm here to tell you guys that McDowell is quite a bit better than Taco...it's not really close. BUT in 2016 he stayed on the field and McDowell didn't. Pretty simple.

We really only had two choices for an edge rusher, Taco and Watt.

Problem with Watt is that he never played with his hand in the dirt at WIS, so it is a total projection if he could be a 43 DE. The team apparently did not want to gamble in the first round and decided on Taco...........I would have made the same decision.

You don't want to get to training camp and realize all of a sudden that that LB you drafted in the first round cant put his hand in the dirt, that would be an epic fail moment and I don't blame the organization for not wanting to go there.

So I would have made the same decision and drafted Taco..............I don't gamble in the first round

It sounds like Dallas had one player on their board with a first round grade at 28. They didn't draft him. I don't know who it was, but that's the guy I'd have selected. My guess is that it was Kevin King, so I'll say him.
Actually SJ said it was a running back in one of his interviews I believe.

Like the pick of Taco but would of also liked the choice of Lamp for Oline if that would of happened. I hope this indicates Green is coming back to play RT with a vengeance and passion we have not seen in years.

Discussion is really Watt or Taco. I think the injuries and lack of classic 4-3 experience led them away from Watt. I think Awuzie is better than Kevin King anyway, so he wasn't an option for me.

Before all the overanalysis and Combine workouts, Taco was like top 20 pick based on tape, then his workout was mediocre and he fell.

He's a solid end with some talent. At 28, he was BPA or near it.

Easy. I would have taken Quincy Wilson at 28, so I could choose from Jordan Willis (73), Tarell Basham (80), or Derek Rivers (83) at 60. Any one of them are an upgrade over Charlton as quick, edge bending pass rushers, which is what we needed in this draft. Good luck to all of the DBs they drafted, because they will have little pass rush to help them.

Foster, best player on the board and a physical presence in the middle of the defense, injuries are a little worrisome, but his ceiling is off the charts...

Taco was on my shortlist. Content with the pick. Could've and has gone much worse.

Frederick was the last time we did this sort of reach, and that one was more extreme. Worked out big time. Our front office has done enough right to earn our faith.

Taco. Excellent balance and short area quickness. Good burst. Most punishing finisher in this draft. A real intimidator. Prototypical size and length. Toughness. High Ceiling and floor.

After Adams, Hooker, Lattimore, Humphrey, and Peppers I had the next dozen DBs ranked the same, King included.

Foster is a power player that struggles to take on blocks, cannot stay with receivers through breaks, and shows low football IQ repeatedly on play recognition and run fits. then the off the field concerns.

Watt was smallish, oft injured, and a scheme projection.

McDowell is a frontrunning quitter. Mentally weak.

I would have preferred Ramczyk or Lamp if Taco was not available over the above.

Everything considered, Charlton was the best pick. Sure, the draft is a crapshoot. The club needed pressure and he was the best available option at the moment. The FO did what it had to do.

I would have taken Watt. Based on his pedigree, work ethic, and track record, I'm not worried about any "projections". The fact is, the team is "projecting" the guy they did draft to be a better player than he was.
