We should seriously be looking to get value by trading some underachievers this offseason, my list of players would be terrance newman, marion barber, barbie carpenter, roy williams and ken hamlin involved in some type of package for picks. I think that could revitalize the franchise with young hungry talent. Jerry likes to wheel and deal, so work some magic for us jerry.;)

The only way to trade for quality picks is to somehow make it possible for Jones to trade with himself. He will happily give the Cowboys 2 first round picks if the Cowboys take Roy Williams off their hands and trade him to the Cowboys.

i don't know why, but for some reason i could see us compiling some picks to move up.

i think a lot depends on what happens with the CBA talks....but i just could see us moving up for some reason, maybe not in the 1st round, but in the 2nd or 3rd.

While that may be a fan's "wish list", it sure as heck isn't going to work out that way.

Newman is too old to trade, plus he's expensive.

Carp has one year left on his contract, and did a nice job as the nickel LB. He's relatively cheap and I can't see the Cowboys trading him.

Hamlin is expensive for a FS and has underperformed. I can't see any team wanting him.

Roy has a huge bonus coming up this offseason as part of his contract. No team is going to take that over.

The only one I see with any trade potential is Barber and he might fetch an early 3rd day pick.

Why would anyone trade away your starting LCB? For once in last 10 yrs we have 3 good CBs and here we go. Let's get rid of one right now without anyone to take his place.

Newman isn't a SHUTDOWN CB but he's pretty good (not great) but where on earth are you going to find one to replace him?

which GM is going to give you anything worth a damn for Barber, Carp or RW? You wouldn't and I wouldn't so why would they?

Do you guys not understand that our dominance down the stretch was because of our secondary?

Go ahead and get rid of 2 guys that helped shut down Philly and the Saints, and teams like that, and you think we can just take 2 really good players out and just replace them easily?

How is that working for New England?

Barber's paid pretty well too for his production level. He's going to be tough to deal as well.

Im quite sure there are less expensive cornerbacks out there willing to shy away from contact and miss open field tackles, and give a free release at the line of scrimmage in a zone defense.

how quickly people forget that our DBs were big reason for emergence of our D during last half of our season.

people also have such short memories that Newman shutdown Steve Smith for last two seasons and seal the win with pick 6 vs Carolina.

Besides yesterday, did he shy away from tackling last 6 wks? I must have missed it. Did he pull a Jenkins?

Come on people. Who are you going to replace him with? a rookie? thank god most of us don't run the Cowboys. zero common sense.

Trade Barber, Newman, Hamlin plus whatever necessary for Asomugha.

We'd take a huge cap hit.

And Raiders wouldn't do it.

This. I understand people are upset with Bobby's lack of production for a 1st rounder... and that he shies from contact. But he found a niche here. For years, we've struggled with depth (early 2000s)... why get rid of the depth we have?

James and Brooking will start next year, we can bring Williams along as slow (or fast) as we like... and in the meantime, we've got an ILB for another year who can cover until Jason Williams is ready.

Maybe if we also tell Al Davis the top 10 draft prospects in 2010 draft, and send him a list of ten names he will do it. I wouldn't be against giving up Barber Hamlin and Newman for Asomugha, put him next to Jenkins plus draft a ballhawk FS and we got a shutdown Secondary.
