This is how this goes..................I finally got to watch the Dallas Denver game. Gramatica missed a field goal, IIRC a 51 yarder? Folk nails a 52 yarder. Gramatica blasts them into the end zone and Folk lays 'em on the three..............................Maybe they ought to have a bake-off. Who knows.

My only thought is to stay with youth but..............Gramatica really improved his kick-offs and what if this Folk kid goes into the dreaded sophmore slump? All I know is it's gonna be Wades fault.

I think this has been one of the most surprising battles in camp so far. I can't even remember the last time we had this "issue" to iron out, but it feels pretty good to finally not have to gasp at every attempt. I'm leaning toward the rookie too.

Jerry and company are thinking "go the distance" this year... win the SB.... so I say keep both and let Gramatica lose the job during the year... I dont think he will but just in case... then you have Folk

I would prefer to keep Folk and let Gramatica walk. We need the roster spot for depth at other positions.

Folk's kickoffs have not been as deep as Gramatica's but they have been higher which allows the coverage teams more time to get down there. He has been very accurate (I don't think he has missed a FG yet).

I'm with you. For last few years, it seems like every time our kicker came on, I would cringe, close my eyes & even change the channel cause I couldn't bear to see another miss. Any last season wasn't any better til Gramatica came on board and nailed his first big one. Have been failing a lot better since then. I like Gramatica cause he's a proven vet but also like the promise of Folk. Other teams have drafted a kicker and stayed with him and were successful so no reason why we can't be. I don't know if we have room to keep 2 kickers. Sure don't want to waste a 6th rounder by cutting Folk and seeing another team grab him.

Gramatica was reaching the endzone on his kick offs. They were still a bit low, but were getting deep enough that the return guys were taking knees. Folk's were hitting the 3 yard line and they had good hang time, which gave the coverage unit time to get down field and make tackles short of the 20 yard line. It is still a toss up. Gramatica's veteran experience has not given him a huge advantage at this time. Of course it is difficult to truly simulate the pressure of attempting an important field goal in the pre-season.

I give an ever so slight edge to Folk. If it is close and both guys are doing well, you go with the young one. If it is close and both guys are doing poorly you go with the vet because you can expect or hope for him to bounce back to form. So far both are doing well. It is either Folk or both. I don't see a situation where Grammy is the only kicker on the team.

We are in a big time luxury position in that we have depth at every spot on the team.
Just choose the "last place" scrub and put him on the PS and keep both kickers. Each kicker would get immediately picked up and used against us if we cut one. However, Alan Ball won't get a sniff from anyone. We need more time to evaluate Folk. We can alway cut him in week 5 or 6 (if he sux) and reclaim Ball or whatever scrub we originally cut. We are OK at every position at this moment. It won't always be like this, but for now it is.

If we keep two kickers, then who kicks the FGs? How does the coach decide without flipping a coin every time? I say choose one and go with it.

I don't see how you can draft a K, have him perform as well or better than the incumbent through preseason and then cut him.

Folk definitely stays. You don't draft a kicker and then let him get away. The question is: do the Cowboys keep Grammatica or do they provide depth elswhere? My vote is to wait until final cuts and then decide.
